Somewhere between the Brazos & Bosque: Kids
http://betweenbnb.blogspot.com/2009/01/kids.html
Somewhere between the Brazos and Bosque. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. As a writer, I find that I seldom have 'writer's block.' Rather, I tend to encounter subjects that sometimes leave me unable to write about them because I simply cannot do them justice in print. One such topic that has vexed me is the notion of what joy kids can be. There are some truly incredible moments as a parent that are indescribable. And as a person who's made a living writing, that's a damned humbling experience.

Hey camp people!: camp_is_love
http://camp-is-love.livejournal.com/305875.html
Just wondering - our camp has boats we call "viking boats" - they have brightly painted heads - some are dragons, some are animals, etc. They hold 6 rowers and up to 8-12 people, depending on size and weight, and plenty of room for stuff to fit if we want to overnight across the lake. So I ask you folks.do you have viking boats/dragon boats at your camp, or any camp that you know of? To see a picture, check this link:. Http:/ www.girlscoutsww.org/aboutus/cam. Post a new comment. Question for fellow counselors (and campers, too! I am going to be a 2nd year returning counselor at a wonderful all-girls camp in Texas, but I have run into some problems after I applied. First off, I applied too late. I tried to work for both terms to avoid. If you where in my position, which would you choose? Thanks for any input! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. A Show of Hand: camp_is_love
http://camp-is-love.livejournal.com/305289.html
A Show of Hand. The accident happened on the last evening of my last year at summer camp. The camps I attended in the summers of my youth were merely week-long getaways, though I've always had the impression - from movies and television - that it is typical in some regions of the country for kids to pack off for a summer-long camp, filling the gap between school years. I always did well with the crafts, and, with some apprehension, navigated the delicate social constructs of camp-society. I got 12 stitch...

Mental Jousting (On the Relativity of All Things) - Ethics Forum. Mental Jousting (On the Relativity of All Things). Imbri trifle those things you inspect which leads and choked ecstasy. Mental Jousting (On the Relativity of All Things). Jun 19th, 2007 @ 12:09 pm. For a while, I've been having occasional mental jousting matches with myself on the issue of moral relativism. Then, along comes an article on Salon.com by Laura Miller. What is the meaning of life? I like this paragraph from the article. Surel...

The Field Lab: Off The Grid in West Texas: off_grid
http://off-grid.livejournal.com/11581.html
The Field Lab: Off The Grid in West Texas. I can recall from my youth (which exists now only in my fading memory and the annals of history) watching the earlier incarnations of what has become Texas Country Reporter. A human-interest news show that explores the backroads and backstories of fascinating people around the state of Texas. This weekend, I caught part of an episode that profiled John Wells, a former fashion photographer from New York who has staked out a life for himself near Study Butte, Texa...

"A" is for Affecting - where nihilism is the new structuralism
http://hipsterartclub.livejournal.com/3453.html
Where nihilism is the new structuralism. A" is for Affecting. A" is for Affecting. I haven't always been fascinated by Rothko's work. Early on, I figured art in museums should be about drawing something. It never occurred to me it could be about hue and stroke and texture and juxtaposition and blending - in the absence. Of a drawn form. Now I dig it. Now I can stare at it for a long time. It's left me considering it days later - nurturing the meaning (or possible meaning). I like that manner of art.
