A Little Hut in the Sand. Come on in, there’s fish on the grill. January 16, 2009. The Smell of Disinfectant. I don’t like hospitals. Not some intense phobia where I can’t step into them, but just a general aversion. If I can intelligently avoid going into a hospital I will. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t apply to doctor’s offices, where I have no issues being within. But ask me to go to a hospital and I begin to feel mildly ill. I grew up in hospitals. Sounds marvelous, no? That’s part of it.
