Im new and will be beginning dog training school soon, but I have my own training conundrum with my corgi/dachshund mix, Gatsby. I take Gatsby to work every day since I work at a doggie daycare. Aaaand this is why. I came home today to find Dad in-law hobbling around (he had both knees replaced last summer). He said he was in the kitchen and took a step backward, not realizing little Belle was right behind him. His heel landed squarely on Belley-Belles little paw. Belle yelped, Dad quickly took a step sideways, and jacked both his knees up in the process. Thankfully Belles fine. Guys, this is one of my worst fears. Paper training a dog that has been going outside. I have a 17 lb female dog that is a beagle/yorkie mix named River. She is 2. I also have a Lab mix. How do you tell a dog whos been told for 2 years that its bad to go potty in the house that its suddenly OK to go potty on papers in the basement? There are no rooms in the basement. Its just cement basement. It is dry and warm. Weve both had dog before, but theyve all been big, tough dogs like Labs and hounds that could stand an hour of bad weather.
