Dribbling Through Europe: Sports in the midst of tragedy
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2011/01/sports-in-midst-of-tragedy.html
Friday, January 14, 2011. Sports in the midst of tragedy. I'm cheating a bit by sharing this entry from my other blog www.positiveperformanceconsulting.com but here is it:. But in the grand scheme of things, how can teams and athletes focus on game in the shadow of death? And even should they be expected to? Do fans even care about a game in the wake of tragedy? Dribbling Through Europe: February 2009
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 16, 2009. My maternal grandmother’s maiden name was Rigos. My mother’s cousins of the same name traced the family back through my grandmother’s father who was a marble carver who immigrated to America by way of Austria but whose roots continued back to Greece, to a Cycladic island in the Aegean named Tinos. Greek people like to ask leading questions regarding Turkey. “Turkey is not good right? 8221; “You know the Agia Sophia is Greek? The irony of course is that Turkish people don’...

Dribbling Through Europe: November 2008
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Curiosity, Love, and Other Demons. All that being said, I know that when I am open to the world, the world opens up to me. Once I think I have things figured out, once I think life has settled into the familiar, I meet someone who shakes things up and I berate myself for ever having expectations about someone’s life, their experiences, or assuming I can know anything about them from a glance. With drink in hand, he’d already made friends with the house director, who wa...

Dribbling Through Europe: June 2009
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 02, 2009. I wrote an article for Ta Nea, a political newspaper in Greece, recently. The link for the article in Greek and pictures is on the left side of this page. But for most of you, here is what is sounds like in English:. My plan is seemingly flawless and I like to tell myself that it will work. Call me crazy if you want but I’ll blame it on my 1/32nd Greek blood. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Seattle, United States. View my complete profile. NY Times Blog Article.

Dribbling Through Europe: Lost in the Moment
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2009/11/lost-in-moment.html
Thursday, November 12, 2009. Lost in the Moment. Meditation has helped me a lot in this quest. It can be quite unbelievable to discover how difficult it is to turn the mind off and even more difficult to avoid berating myself for not always succeeding. I try to concentrate on my breathing and instead my mind moves to the big questions in life: why peanut butter isn’t popular in Europe for example? Then my mind moves on to seahorses. Seahorses. When was the last time I thought about seahorses? Can I play ...

Dribbling Through Europe: October 2009
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 28, 2009. I juggle basketball with going for coffee, shopping for food, meditating, reading and playing poker with other athletes. I’m wondering if at some point, the real world is going to be a shock. Sometimes I finish practice and I think to myself never in my life would I have thought that at 28 years old, my workday would consist of 2 hours of playing basketball; then I go take a nap. Dribbling Through Europe: November 2009
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Battles on the Hardwood. I hate (add in a few expletives) losing. I know everyone says that, as if anyone would ever say they enjoy the experience of losing. Not a memory most people look back fondly upon. I don’t even like writing about losing, I’ve been known to avoid phone calls after losses, I refuse to learn how to say the word in Greek. I do realize that none of this really sounds healthy. Links to this post. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Lost in the Moment. 8217; then ...

Dribbling Through Europe: October 2008
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. But more likely, I was just following a path that many of us yearn for: the need to escape from the reality we have constructed so we can find who we really are. Was it the traffic? Was it the different daily interactions? Links to this post. Thursday, October 09, 2008. It’s a little strange having a car in Europe. I have gotten so used to public transportation while living overseas, that I forgot how nice it is to just get in your car, have all your stuff in your tru...The sma...

Dribbling Through Europe: sometimes you just need to take a moment
http://lindseywilson.blogspot.com/2010/01/loving-where-i-am.html
Friday, January 15, 2010. Sometimes you just need to take a moment. The realization of goals usually comes about so slowly and incrementally, that by the time you arrive, one can hardly remember how distant the starting line was. But just sometimes, a memory flashes back so vividly, that it starts a procession of your past and you feel like the whole journey is flowing through your mind like a movie. Fire mirrors our own. It was just as much fun as I’d always imagined it would be. Thanks for the post:.
