A Student's Perspective: March 2011

http://www.possiblepolitics.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

What your average liberal student thinks about your average Texas politics. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Hitting Home: The Last Latin Student. By Thomas G. Palaima over on the Austin American Statesman website struck a chord with me personally and hit on something I've been fuming over for a few weeks now so forgive me if this critique includes a bit of my own commentary on the matter as well. As for his intended audience, hopefully anyone who is able to read would see the sense in this article however I beli...

A Student's Perspective: Texas Textbooks are at it Again

http://www.possiblepolitics.blogspot.com/2011/02/texas-textbooks-are-at-it-again.html

What your average liberal student thinks about your average Texas politics. Friday, February 25, 2011. Texas Textbooks are at it Again. According to this editorial. The hidden meaning behind all of that is that Texas is once again censoring their Text books and in this case putting certain spins on some of America's history and entirely leaving out other parts. But all of this, as always, is just from a student's perspective. Ps For a little laugh read through the comments on that editorial. Capitol Metr...

A Student's Perspective: Kyle's Mayor Gives Me Hope

http://www.possiblepolitics.blogspot.com/2011/02/kyles-mayor-gives-me-hope.html

What your average liberal student thinks about your average Texas politics. Saturday, February 5, 2011. Kyle's Mayor Gives Me Hope. In the article "Kyle Moves to band synthetic marijuana". On Statesman.com, Patrick George reports on the efforts of the Kyle City Council to make the sale of a "pot substitute" illegal. This "substitute" is called K2 as well as Spice and is "an herbal product" (like marijuana? But that's just a student's perspective. Posted by Lura C. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Student's Perspective: April 2011

http://www.possiblepolitics.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

What your average liberal student thinks about your average Texas politics. Sunday, April 10, 2011. For me, this particular fight has always been something I've felt very strongly about and is one of the only things that keeps me interested in National, State, or Local politics. This topic is hit upon by "Tommy On Texas" on his blog and in his article "Texas VS. The Supremacy Clause". But I do see that this law needs to be removed, even if only as a sign to people that we are moving forward. And I do...

Texas government: April 2011

http://texasgovernmentbykat.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 28, 2011. But that's not the primary concern. The main problem is the time constraint they are facing with only 31 days left. Obviously the budget proposal is the necessary motive for these sessions, but debt is a simultaneous deterrent at the time also. If the members don't reach a consensus in time it'll lead to a special session. Friday, April 15, 2011. I decided to comment on your post. But another option to consider is how reponsible people seeking their concealed weapon lincense wou...

http://beccadonovan4.blogspot.com/2011/05/id-say-metrorail-is-inching-along.html

Becca's Moderate View on Tx Govt. Friday, May 6, 2011. I'd say the MetroRail is inching along. As Surid Kaphle mentions in his blog " A Great Citizen. Although the amount of passengers increased during SXSW, it still was not that useful. The last train left downtown at 11:30pm. I think that the MetroRail has great potential, and will be successful, eventually. Austin needs to dedicate more time and money to make it useful to a larger percentage of the population. Becca's Moderate View on Tx Govt: We aren't forcing you to lay people off...

http://beccadonovan4.blogspot.com/2011/03/we-arent-forcing-you-to-lay-people-off.html

Becca's Moderate View on Tx Govt. Friday, March 11, 2011. We aren't forcing you to lay people off. As the Legislative Session continues, the arguments about Educational Budget Cuts heats up more and more. Charles Kuffner singles out Perry's statement claiming that the State Government isn't forcing any layoffs, that decision is made at the local level. Wouldn't you stand up to critics saying that this is what the community of Texas asked for? Becca's Moderate View on TX Govt. Blue Oasis in a Big Red State.

Cowboys vs. Politics: March 2011

http://cowboysvspolitics.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Cowboys vs. Politics. Friday, March 11, 2011. The recent bill that forces women to have a sonogram prior to abortion is a terrible invasion; however, this. Post by Rachel Farris of Mean Rachel.com turns the focus onto an issue that seems to have greater importance. In reality, this post is geared more to those of a liberal view, but I would hope that it would bring attention to what is happening now, instead of what hasn't happened yet and perhaps sway some opinions. We have children who need help now, a...

Texas Chitchat: April 2011

http://texaschitchat.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 29, 2011. In Texas when you have a license to carry a gun, you are required to keep it concealed, but that could soon change. The open-carry bill. Has been gaining some major traction, and now has plans to go to the full house. This bill has been gaining some ground, but I don't think that it is necessary. If someone has to carry a gun it shouldn't be a problem for them to conceal it. I can't think of any reason that someone would need to carry a gun out in the open. Friday, April 15, 2011.

Texas Chitchat: Yes To Drug Testing!!!

http://texaschitchat.blogspot.com/2011/04/yes-to-drug-testing.html

Friday, April 15, 2011. Yes To Drug Testing! In a blog posted on the Texas Republic Times. Titled Drug Testing, the author speaks on House Bill 126. This is a bill that would require those filing for unemployment to pass a drug test before they can receive any of those benefits. Though some valid points are made, and it definitely does seem that the main point of this bill is to try and save the government money, I agree with the bill. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Texas Chitchat: May 2011

http://texaschitchat.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 13, 2011. In the blog "Texas State and Local Government", Ross McEwen posted an entry titled "Drinking Age". That should have been a controlled environment. It didn't do anyone any good, it left kids with brain damage, broken bones, and partial blindness. We should all just be grateful that no one died. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog: What's the Difference between 18 and 21?

http://kscottgovernmentblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/whats-difference-between-18-and-21.html

Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog. Friday, May 13, 2011. What's the Difference between 18 and 21? An age is yet a number right? Not quite when you’re teetering between 20 and 21. For Americans, one of the most monumental birthdays someone will have is their 21. They are legally able to drink. If you were to go to any other country, you would find that a 21. Birthday isn’t anything special. Other countries allow a citizen to drink once they turn 18. That makes sense though right? There is a plus side t...

Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog: New Task Force Out and About

http://kscottgovernmentblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/new-task-force-out-and-about.html

Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog. Friday, April 29, 2011. New Task Force Out and About. What is it but a number right? No, it is the age that most Americans cherish because they are finally allowed to drink legally. The key word here is LEGALLY. If you are between 15 and 20 you have most likely drank illegally before. Since this is a reoccurring situation, the Travis County Police Department has taken it upon themselves to create a special task force. To take down underage drinking. We have so many o...

THE POSSIBILITIES OF PLEASURE

THE POSSIBILITIES OF PLEASURE. Tuesday, April 12, 2005. The Possibilities of Pleasure: Why I Feel Like Getting High Tonight. April 12, 2005. Several weeks before she died, my mother and I had a conversation. Give yourself some time to figure things out, she begged. How do you know what you want? You’re still a child in so many ways, Maxie. You shouldn’t choose a label until you are absolutely sure what it means. So You Wanna be a Writer?

So You Wanna be a Writer? So you wanna be a writer? Saturday, September 1, 2012. So You Wanna be a Writer. You wanna be a writer? How hard can it be right? It's not hard. Or at least no harder than becoming an astronaut or a brain surgeon and plenty of people do that, right? So, if it's what you want to do, go for it. And because I like the look of you, I'm gonna do everything I can to help you, but only you. Okay. I know mine was. Have you read up on the industry? Have you done classes or workshops?
