http://lifeinyourforties.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Fifty and over it. Friday, 14 November 2008. Home Alone and Then Not. Links to this post. Tuesday, 11 November 2008. The last couple of months have been pretty full on with work and wildlife. We have had so many birds come in and out of our care it is scary. At the moment it is the bird season or what we call the silly season. Steve and I are very involved with the wildlife and the organisation that we are affiliated. As well as caring and rehabilating baby and injured animals we take the rescue phone ov...

Fifty and over it. Tuesday, 17 February 2009. Hamish R.I.P. May my little boy rest in peace. I love being a wildlife carer but some times it can be very emotionally draining. My next one will hopefully have a better start in this world and a better future. I live in hope of all the animals we get into care. Links to this post. Thursday, 12 February 2009. Fifty and over it: Back to Life in my Forties
http://lifeinyourforties.blogspot.com/2009/03/back-to-life-in-my-forties.html
Fifty and over it. Saturday, 14 March 2009. Back to Life in my Forties. Have gone off on a tangent lately with the animals but will try to get back on track for a little bit any way. I thought that when I reached my forties I would be at least be moderately well off considering I have worked most of my life but (Life) sometimes throws you some curve balls. For example divorce, bankruptcy, redundancy, bills etc. 7 April 2009 at 7:49 pm. Love your animal photos! 15 May 2009 at 11:11 pm. Mum and Dad Porter.

Fifty and over it: Xena Warrior Princess
http://lifeinyourforties.blogspot.com/2011/06/xena-warrior-princess.html
Fifty and over it. Friday, 3 June 2011. Fourteen and a half years ago I was told by my then husband and two daughters that we were getting a new pet ( a dog). My response was a resounding NOOOOOOO. For all my protest she still arrived. She visited for one night to see if she liked us and we liked her. She stayed for fourteen and a half years. I have so many memories of her digging, chewing and escaping. She became a part of our family and my life. She saved my sanity and my life when my marriage ...She h...

The Desk in the Corner: A man in a bowtie
http://thedeskinthecorner.blogspot.com/2013/10/a-man-in-bowtie.html
A man in a bowtie. We had a bit of a problem with one of the local cockatoos deciding to destroy part of our vegetable garden this morning. He didn't eat anything, just bit some of our corn, silver-beat, lettuce and kale off at the base. So we decided to do something about it. We enlisted the help of a man in a bowtie, because bowties are cool. Smiffy. Official vege garden security. If that doesn't work, I'm going to turn that compost bin behind into a Dalek. The Desk in the Corner: July 2013
http://thedeskinthecorner.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
I mentioned in a previous post. That I'd managed to tick two boxes in my postie career on the same day. One of those was dropping the bike, apparently everyone does it at some time. There are, however, different levels of dropping the bike. Today I took it to the next level and dropped it while I was riding it. Here's the only injury I sustained, other than the injury to my pride. So, how did I fall off, I hear you ask? I'm wondering if there would have been any damage if I'd been riding one of these.

The Desk in the Corner: Bee Vomit
http://thedeskinthecorner.blogspot.com/2014/09/bee-vomit.html
We recently did a native bee course with Dr Tim Heard at Redlands Indigiscapes. Tim's a recently retired entomologist who worked with the CSIRO and really knows his bees. There were equal parts theory and practical. We learnt about the different species of native bee and how they differ from honey bees, how they breed, make their hives and honey. Did you know that honey is actually bee vomit? This is the same log, with the top part of the brood chamber removed and placed in a new box, along with some of ...
