Moore's Postcard Museum. Using Content from My Blog. Museum of Science and Industry. Best Wishes for a Happy Hallowe’en →. October 5, 2014. I recently won several lots of cards that were mailed from a sailor to his wife and children during WWII, and one of the cards was this RPPC of the U.S.S. New Mexico. The battleship was not in Battleship Row during Pearl Harbor, but later came in as a reinforcement. Today, there is a submarine. Named the U.S.S. New Mexico. This entry was posted in Military. Moore's Postcard Museum. Using Content from My Blog. Newer posts →. Christmas in July- Kewpies 2! July 23, 2016. This is my favorite Kewpie Christmas card that I have. I love how it has so many Kewpies on it (16! More than the usual Kewpie card it seems. It was mailed on December 23, 1919, exactly 96 years and 7 months ago from today. It was a steal on eBay a few months ago, I think the seller had it up for Buy it Now $6, which is great compared to the $15-$30 a card Kewpies usually go for. July 21, 2016.

Moore's Postcard Museum. Using Content from My Blog. Best Wishes for a Happy Hallowe’en. Bringing Blogging Back →. October 19, 2014. This Yale football cupid is signed by Charles Twelvetrees, and was published by Ullman in 1909. It is a scarcer Twelvetrees card, and there is a Harvard card like this that is part of the same series. I have only seen the Harvard card listed on eBay once before, and have never seen any other schools that would go along with the series. And tagged Charles Twelvetrees. Enter ...

The Daily Postcard: More Photo Sleuthing

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012/10/more-photo-sleuthing.html

Friday, October 26, 2012. Remember the Hendersons from yesterday's post. Well, I unearthed some more photos from the family and discovered that I had also posted something on one of them in 2010.and forgotten all about it. And that photo was from a different box of photographs. It just goes to show you how things can get mixed up. It was another one of those Aha! James and Hanna Henderson. Then there's this carte de visite, which is hard to stop looking at! Is he a giant? Is she a midget? And here's anot...

The Daily Postcard: February 2012

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Did you notice that we have one extra day this month? Leap year is better news for people who are paid by the hour than for people who are on a monthly salary, so it all depends on your perspective whether you appreciate it or not. Here's a card from some previous leap year, circa 1920. This one's a little odd, isn't it? And this one's pretty unusual too. I am mad at that hello girl because she wouldn't let me say all my say. I think 'Hello Girls' were telephone operators.

The Daily Postcard: Time is on the Wing - Birds in Advertising - Part 2

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012/11/time-is-on-wing-birds-in-advertising.html

Monday, November 5, 2012. Time is on the Wing - Birds in Advertising - Part 2. Thus, like the miller, bold and free, let us rejoice and sing;. The days of youth are made for glee, and time is on the wing ;. The first card is a very early engraved calling card, probably circa 1840, so it's not really an advertisement. But I suppose you could say that calling cards are really a form of personal advertisement. In any case, this one says Time is on the Wing. The words are from The Miller of Dee. Oh, good poi...

The Daily Postcard: July 2012

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Tram Tuesday - Marseille, France. Back in 2011 I posted a colorful scene of streetcars on La Canebière. In Marseille. Here are some more cards showing scenes of Marseille that include streetcars. The earliest trams in Marseille began service in 1876 and were pulled by horses. As in most other places, the system slowly transitioned to electric power. This first card, circa 1900, appears to show horse-drawn and electric trams operating side by side. Monday, July 30, 2012. Stay tuned...

The Daily Postcard: September 2012

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 28, 2012. I know, I've been posting a lot more photos than postcards lately. It's because there are so many that I want to post before I move on to other things. So here are a bunch of tin types. They're all about 2.5 inches by 4 inches, and the metal is sharp! Don't know where and don't know who, but they're full of character and historical fashion. Thursday, September 27, 2012. Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Hugh Winslow and Elizabeth Brady Cabot Winslow. Hugh was born in Montana in 1...

The Daily Postcard: October 2012

http://postcardparadise.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Harry Starr's Magnificent Scrapbook. I wonder if it was typical for little boys to keep scrapbooks like this in the 1880s. Harry Starr seems to have lived in Baltimore, Maryland, based on the advertising cards in his scrapbook. The front of the album is both ornate and exotic. Harry's name and the date (January 31st, 1884) are written neatly on the first page, probably by his mother. Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Tram Tuesday - Milan, Italy. S movie, Illusion Travels by Streetcar.

Friday, August 31, 2012. Tuberculosis of the Head. Fannie must have been delighted to get such a beautiful card, but the message probably had her deeply worried. Thanks for the card you sent me I am feeling fine for me and working as hard as ever. Milo is sick again. The Dr. told him Monday he had symptoms of Tuberculosis of the head Wouldn't that be terrible if he has it. You must write a letter soon. Thursday, August 30, 2012. Did You Really Say That?
