http://postcardsandphotos.blogspot.com/2013/09/almira-richardson-1860s-photo-by-s.html

Sunday, September 15, 2013. Almira Richardson, 1860s, photo by S. Anderson, New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a CDV photo of a little girl with the name Almira M. Richardson written on back. It was taken by S. Anderson of New Orleans. It is about 2 1/4 by 4 inches, has square corners, the mount is very thin and it has thin borders, all of which date it to the 1860s. September 15, 2013 at 1:53 PM. I love this photo! What a marvelous face. I did a quick Ancestry search and found an Almira M. Richards...An RP...

http://postcardsandphotos.blogspot.com/p/vocabulary.html

This page is a vocabulary of some terms I use, I'll add as I go along. These are what these terms mean to me, so if I have a misconception about anything please feel free to let me know. Artist Signed (A/S) -. A printed or facsimile version of an artists' signature. On postcards the signature is actually part of the photograph. A physcial signature, something actually signed by the person. A photo style popular from the 1860s - late 1890s (about 4.5 x 6 inches). Early 20th Century Postcards. Postcards wh...

Postcards & Photos: Comic Linen Postcard - Love Thy Neighbor

http://postcardsandphotos.blogspot.com/2011/06/comic-linen-postcard-love-thy-neighbor.html

Saturday, June 4, 2011. Comic Linen Postcard - Love Thy Neighbor. This is a comic linen postcard, probably from the 1930s, perhaps early 1940s. It was published by CurtTeich-Chicago, very big in postcard circles. It depicts a couple of travelers at a campground. It is also part of a series of 10 cards, though I have no idea what the other 9 cards are. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. Postcards and Photos on eBay. Postcards & Photos: 1960s Holiday Inn Advertising Postcard

http://postcardsandphotos.blogspot.com/2011/10/1960s-holiday-inn-advertising-postcard.html

Wednesday, October 19, 2011. 1960s Holiday Inn Advertising Postcard. This is a standard/chrome postcard advertising the Holiday Inn motel chain. From the looks of the cars and so on I'd say it's from the 1960s. Postcards advertising hotels, motels, restaurants and other places of business are very common, and postcards advertising Holiday Inns are as common as dirt. But I like this one - it is very subliminal, which I suppose is a goal of a lot of advertising. The link is only good for a month tho. Antiq...

Postcards & Photos: Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Patriarchs Militant Parade Uniform

http://postcardsandphotos.blogspot.com/2011/10/international-order-of-odd-fellows.html

Friday, October 7, 2011. Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Patriarchs Militant Parade Uniform. This is a circa 1880s-1890s cabinet photo of a man all duded up in his IOOF Patriarch's Militant Parade Uniform. This brings up something I learned very early on in my "selling" career. People who buy collectibles frequently know a lot more about the item than the seller does. This is a neat, neat photo from the late 19th century. October 7, 2011 at 6:04 PM. Our eBay (and Etsy) Month - July 2012. July was our best month this year, at least as far as net profits went. As far as I'm concerned, net is what counts, and our net profits for the month were very good. I know what happened, but I really don't know why it happened. I like international sales, I hope it keeps up. Traditionally the summer mont...

This blog is about Valdese, North Carolina. At least some of the time. Most of the time, it is about something else. Things I Have Read. Saturday, August 18, 2012. Today is my mother's birthday. The first part of my self delusion was shattered when a 1st cousin, and my best friend, drowned in Troublesome Creek when it was swollen with spring rains. I remember him as smart, inquisitive and curious, and he was younger than me. He was only 7 years old when he died. I was 8. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

If you ask the question, be prepared for the answer. When you get off an airplane, you're somewhere else. It's hard to find unusual things. The further away in time you are from an event, the more you know about it. Nasty Coincidence Principle: If "A" happens and "B" occurs, don't assume that "A" caused "B". This blog is about Valdese, North Carolina. At least some of the time. Most of the time, it is about something else. Things I Have Read. Monday, October 8, 2012. Our eBay and Etsy Month September 2012. I suppose it's about time I wrote something about this. I was going to skip it this month, but why mess with success as they say. So, not knowing how it would work, we decided to try and sell our postcards and cheaper items we would not normally mail with delivery confirmation on Etsy. We're moving them over slowly but surely. We started this on the last day of February, so I guess this is long enough to make some observations. There are no auctions on Etsy. At some point -...

This blog is about Valdese, North Carolina. At least some of the time. Most of the time, it is about something else. Things I Have Read. Monday, August 20, 2012. Little bit of a rant. There is no deeper meaning. We do not consider what we have to be a lawn - it is more of a field. 2.5 acres give or take, (thank heavens part of our property is wooded) of sometimes very steep sloping grass that really should be mowed. Sunday, April 7, 2013. In like a lamb. You trust your brain. I trust my heart. Telling me "do less". Telling me "do less". Often in the dark. About how you feel. You like to keep cool. I like to keep it real. To melt the chill. And shed some light. Some warmth to prove. That is was us all along. I guess I was wrong. Tried to push through. The last jaded layers. But you pushed back. Of an uncivil war. We could never get far. Now I'm in this life raft. Dividing fiction from fact. I don't love the girl.
