Postcards from Preston

Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Postcards from Preston - signing off! As we send our last Postcard from Preston we reminisce. And so it has been. The best two years of our lives! With the exception of a few others). Two years ago we packed up our home, sold our cars, assigned our children the responsibilities of caring for our assets, said our good-byes through tears of parting and tears of happy anticipation as we eagerly looked forward to our new assignment in the England MTC! We were clueless as to how thi...

Postcards from Preston: December 2012

http://postcardsfrompreston.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 29, 2012. Christmas is magic. And the magic was 21 times as wonderful this year. 21 children - 21 stockings - One Santa (and a couple of imported helpers). Christmas Eve afternoon we went to Chorley and did our usual Christmas Caroling. When we returned we listened to a powerful message by Elder Holland which stirred their hearts and reminded them of their commitment to the Savior. As a Christmas Gift we gave the missionaries an extra hour of sleep on Christmas morning. At the appointe...

Postcards from Preston: October 2012

Thursday, October 18, 2012. Brimham Rocks and Pateley Bridge. A day between groups gave us time to venture out to unknown parts. Quite accidently we landed in Brimham Rocks.a weird and wonderful national park filled with unusual shaped rocks that are remininisent of Stonehenge, except that they are a freak of nature, as opposed to man made. Geologists have confirmed that the rocks have been made by entirely natural processes, over mllions of years. Truly like walking through a land invaded by hobbits!

Postcards from Preston: November 2012

http://postcardsfrompreston.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Welcome to the holidays! A little postscript from the last blog - the curtain going up on 42nd Street! More war memorials - more poppy wreaths - more Christmas lights! And now.THANKSGIVING. It is interesting that the Brits love the holiday. In fact they love all American holidays, even tho they do not celebrate them. We even had children at our table as the MTC Manager brought his wife and 2 children. They wore their little turkey hats and added a bit of "home" to our fun.

Postcards from Preston: July 2012

http://postcardsfrompreston.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 26, 2012. A different view of England. The coastal cities just don't feel much like England. For our latest Preparation Day Venture we went to a place called Sunderland Point on the Western Coast of England, about a one hour drive from here. It is a little village that is isolated by the tides that go in and out. Before you go, you must check the tide times and avoid anything close to high tide. The drive into Sunderland Point. The road is still wet from the morning high tide. Just one sto...

Beach life II: sail to the moon. 9834; Sail to the Moon, Radiohead. Postcards From Pramstead

Motherhood in 100 Objects. Out and About: Classes in NW3. April 11, 2014. I stood in the kitchen in my dressing gown waiting for the kettle to boil. As the water bubbled and burst its way to a crescendo I noticed a light sensation on my cheek: an eyelash that had decided to make a break for it during the night. I picked it up idly with my index finger, held it to my lips and blew, setting it free. 8216;I wish that Mum gets better’. For Mum, with love. January 30, 2014. Livin' in a moment to die for. Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Ten Years Of Dreams. El Pozo began as a dream over 10 years ago. Since then, God has used El Pozo to change the lives of countless college students here in Puebla, Mexico. To celebrate our 10 years of serving God we want to continue dreaming big and bless others while doing it. This year we want to provide 10 houses for families in need over holy week (March 29-April 3). Thank you for your love and support of El Pozo! 2010last year in Juarez.

Postcards from Puebla | "One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. Hasta Luego, no Adios. There are a few things from Puebla I will not miss:. BUAP – Nothing has made me appreciate my education more than trudging through my classes at the BUAP. I am so relieved to be going back to Smith, and have a new level of respect for my classmates. The lack of toilet paper – Many bathrooms don’t provide toilet paper! There is nothing quite like running to the bathroom in between classes, only to realize (too late!
