Post Decadent Trashionista: Another show finished!

http://postdecadent.blogspot.com/2008/06/another-show-finished.html

Monday, June 2, 2008. A quick backstage photo of all my awesome models from the Teen Fest Fashion Show. Yesterday, I participated in another fashion show for the local Teen fest. All I know is that my daughter (who modeled) and myself both overslept our alarm clocks this morning. I guess it wass. More work than we thought at the time. As for other news,. I've been tagged by Christi Michelle. Which means (I think) that I have to answer some questions about myself and then tag some other bloggers. The next...

Post Decadent Trashionista: Projects and Questions

http://postdecadent.blogspot.com/2008/03/simple-sundress.html

Tuesday, March 11, 2008. This is a simple sundress I made yesterday from a variety of materials. The top was previously a 70's mens. Shirt The old shirt had a few rust spots from hanging on a hanger but I liked the fabric so I've been holding onto it until I could put it to use. The waistband and ruffle were once a 70's lounge dress. Again a really nice fabric, but the former utilization was well, fugly. The skirt portion is just some pretty cotton fabric I had laying around. Posted by Mary X. Your idea ...

http://postdecadent.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 22, 2007. Lot's going on this month. Taxes, need I say more? Thankfully that's finally out of the way. Word on the street is that the Green Closet. Is in the November issue of NYLON. That was exciting news. Wish I had a copy so I knew what it said. But tomorrow will be here soon enough and I guess I'll finally get my hands on a copy then. Two new designers have joined the GC. Line-up: Nicole Rae Styer. Delivered a few of her edgy reconstructed pieces from Philly. Now onto the blogs! Poste...

Post Decadent Trashionista: The price of oil

http://postdecadent.blogspot.com/2008/03/price-of-oil.html

Monday, March 10, 2008. The price of oil. Today the price of oil continues it's climb crossing over $107 a barrel. It ain't a pretty picture, what's on the horizon for our economy I fear. Maybe the bright side to all the mayhem is that more folks will take to the reduce, reuse and recycle lifestyle. I made a little sun dress today but blogger's not uploading photos at the moment so I'll have to post that later. Posted by Mary X. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sew, you dig that trashion?

Post Decadent Trashionista: lousupcycles

http://postdecadent.blogspot.com/2008/05/lousupcycles.html

Thursday, May 15, 2008. Isn't upcycling just the coolest? Take this little number for instance. A book bag made from . isn't that a target bag? Why yes, I believe it is. How cool is that? You can grab this bag, fashioned by none other than. If you can't use a book bag, then grab a shopper crocheted from old plastic grocery bags. Oh, just visit her shop. You'll see all kinds of wonderful upcycles crafted by this talented green girl. Cheers Stacy on the fabulous work! Posted by Mary X. Wow, that is amazing!

The Sewing Geek: A denim garden apron

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008/06/denim-garden-apron.html

Monday, June 09, 2008. A denim garden apron. I’m always leaving stuff like my garden clippers, gloves, and such just lying around the yard and then I spend precious gardening time hunting for them. So since my sewing apron (pictured in my banner) comes in so handy in my quilting room, I thought I’d make myself a gardening apron, too. I recently ran across this ThreadHeads tutorial. Here’s what I ended up with. I love, love, love it – especially the re-attached waistband that now buttons in the back.

The Sewing Geek: September 2008

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Musical memories aren't so far away. For 37 years, I’ve had a girl-crush on Carole King. Came out in 1971, I was a sophomore in high school and “So Far Away” was a staple on KOIL-AM radio out of Omaha. Of course everyone wanted to sing along, but you risked looking like a total dork if you got the words wrong. So it was godsend when the. Printed the lyrics one week in their Friday youth section. Anita Shires brought a copy to the Auburn High School. Getting the words right.

The Sewing Geek: A necktie backpack

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008/09/necktie-backpack.html

Tuesday, September 02, 2008. You'd think that if I were going to take another extended blogging break, I'd have something truly spectacular to post upon my return. Not so, unfortunately - the summer's been preoccupied with gardening and camping, rather than sewing. However, I did spend the final hours of the Labor Day weekend making this experimental backpack out of a bag of old silk ties I got at our quilt guild rummage sale in April. Love both of them! I love the backpack! Thanks for visiting my blog&#...

The Sewing Geek: July 2007

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 23, 2007. It's a chilly, rainy evening, so it felt especially good to take yards and yards of warm, fluffy new flannel out of the dryer and fold them just now. Of course, it would have felt good, anyway - as I wrote about last year. Sunday, July 22, 2007. I realize this is hardly rocket science, but for some reason I was just so excited to learn this. I could hardly wait to share it with my very talented and clever friend Jean yesterday, and while she already knew about this technique, s...

The Sewing Geek: I'd sleep in them if I could

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008/09/id-sleep-in-them-if-i-could.html

Sunday, September 14, 2008. I'd sleep in them if I could. New shoes. Red. Comfortable. SO comfortable. Great with black, brown, or blue denim. Oddly adorable. Love them. Is it because I'm staring my 52nd birthday right in the face? How could you NOT be happy when you have RED shoes? I am nearly a year past my 52nd bd .) They look stylish and comfortable, which is hard to find. What a fabulous pair of shoes. Good for you! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Visit again soon! Id sleep in the...

The Sewing Geek: October 2007

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 18, 2007. Tonight I completed the last of the 24 quilt blocks I need for my current project. I absolutely love this block pattern. It's from Nickel Quilts. One of the first quilting books I purchased when I started quilting four years ago. The pattern is called "Labor Day Madness" - here's a photo. From the author's web site of a finished version. Sunday, October 07, 2007. OK, I didn't. Need two weeks to prepare another post . . . but anyway, here I am again. I wanted to...Believe it or...

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 25, 2010. So long, farewell. Considering I've been letting this poor blog sit neglected for a year and a half anyway, I'm not sure exactly why I felt I needed to wrap it up. The Sewing Geek: Summer thoughts

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008/06/summer-thoughts.html

Wednesday, June 11, 2008. I feel like I'm embracing summer with great big bear hugs these days. It's immaterial to me that summer doesn't officially begin for another week and a half. Summer is state of mind, and it's absolutely wonderful right now. Our small lawn, which was so scrawny and anemic-looking last year, has become unbelievably lush and thick. I'm convinced it's because of our new little reel lawnmower. We love our reel mower too! More "green" for the environment. View my complete profile.

The Sewing Geek: Reel exciting

http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2008/05/reel-exciting.html

Saturday, May 10, 2008. Last night after work, Dan and I went to Lowe's and bought a reel lawnmower. Our current house has a fairly small yard, and firing up our 6 hp, gas-powered, self-propelled mower every week was just feeling inappropriate and very non-green. So we thought we'd give the reel variety a try. And this evening, we did exactly that. We're totally enamored with it! Nice post.yes, you'll need to cut the grass a little more frequently but very quiet.shoot, you can cut the grass at 5a...Baseb...
