The Three Ps of Post- Montana MFA '08:: Workshops and Draft Purgatory
http://postmfa08.blogspot.com/2011/04/workshops-and-draft-purgatory.html
Saturday, April 30, 2011. Workshops and Draft Purgatory. This quarter I tallied my total number of workshops, including my MFA. Total count: seventeen. Granted, I am a shopmonger. I have taken nonfiction, fiction and poetry. I have taken multiple shops at one time. I love dissecting how works–in-progress are/aren’t working. I appreciate how shop drives me to produce. I love the whiskey bar post shop decompress. The downside of workshop is that you have to endure being. Which will come out with Press 53.
The Three Ps of Post- Montana MFA '08:: On Introductions and Mustaches
http://postmfa08.blogspot.com/2011/06/on-introductions-and-moustaches.html
Sunday, June 26, 2011. On Introductions and Mustaches. I teach nonfiction workshop here at OU and I was (uh, this was back in May) telling my students about how they needed come see Tobias Wolff read at our Lit Fest, because—well—they needed to come see Tobias Wolff, when one student turned to me and asked the dreaded question—. To be fair this question was asked in all sincerity by one of my top students. He was not asking in the sense of w hy I gotta see Tobias Wolff. 10) Tobias Wolff is one of America...
The Three Ps of Post- Montana MFA '08:: June 2011
http://postmfa08.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. After graduating from Montana in 2008, I took a job the University of Phoenix. College of Axia, teaching basic writing classes. I’ve had various friends ask me about online teaching. So here’s a post about it. I’m happy to share my experience, but, remember, I am no expert. This is just one woman’s journey at one university. Online pays more than adjuncting. (Of course, what doesn’t? There can be weirdness working for “McUniversity,” (Emoticons! Ie students who mostly likely don...
The Three Ps of Post- Montana MFA '08:: So Long, Farewell
http://postmfa08.blogspot.com/2011/08/so-long-farewell.html
Tuesday, August 23, 2011. So Long, Farewell. The time has come to Kevork the blog. And rather than leave the 3 Ps lingering with half-thoughts in cyberspace forever, we decided, before signing off, to sum up where we are three years later. Our 31 followers will be relieved to know the three of us remained friends as we travailed, and that we will continue to write and be friends as we continue to travail. I can now be found at kellykathleenferguson.com. As for the past three years:. And then there's the ...
The Three Ps of Post- Montana MFA '08:: P is for Publication!
http://postmfa08.blogspot.com/2011/08/p-is-for-publication.html
Tuesday, August 2, 2011. P is for Publication! I'm ten years in the writing game now. Admittedly, I entered my MFA with a goal: Be Famous. The naivete sustained me and I have no regrets. I plunged and emerged a better writer. One aspect I have discovered I don't. To be clear, I'm not writing nonfiction to get in programs. I love nonfiction. I have a nonfiction book coming out. And believe me, if I didn't love writing about Laura Ingalls Wilder. For fiction/nonfiction. So maybe not. Musings on the travail...

Bitching in the Basement: 09/01/2009 - 10/01/2009
http://bitchingbasement.blogspot.com/2009/09
Bitching in the Basement. Notes from a script and manuscript writer. Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Tips are Always Appreciated. My writing has stalled out and every day it makes me more frantic. I sit in my normal writing spot and stare at my laptop screen. I sit in another, more desk-like spot and stare at lined paper. I go to the library, sit in an isolation desk, and stare at its walls. On the other hand, I'm reading more. How do I quit worrying and love the work? How do I get back in the rhythm? But t...
Cooking for Elaine: International Night
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2011/01/international-night.html
Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Well, we were all over the map with this one. It was another chilly night here in the desert, so a big pot of beans was in order. Borracho beans, to be exact. A nice warm piece of Irish Soda Bread complemented the beans nicely, and we rounded out the meal with a hearty Cobb salad. With Oven-Dried Tomatoes and Creamy Peppercorn Blue Cheese Dressing. The Rancho Gordo Cookbook. 4 cups cooked pinto beans. 2 slices high-quality bacon, diced. 1/2 medium yellow or white onion, chopped.
Cooking for Elaine: Holy Smoke!
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2010/12/holy-smoke.html
Friday, December 24, 2010. We had a very laid-back Christmas. We didn't travel anywhere and we didn't have anyone over for dinner. It was just the two of us, so we cooked all day and then ate all night while watching basketball and football. It was great. I think Jesus would approve. The only thing I'm not posting is the recipe for the Sweet Potato Gratin. It did not turn out well for some reason; it was very watery and just didn't set up. Everything else was pretty fantastic. Baked Macaroni and Cheese.
Cooking for Elaine: February 2011
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 20, 2011. Today's creations were heavily meat-focused. I totally caved to the impulse-buy phenomenon of grabbing the pretty cooking magazine on my way through the checkout line yesterday, and, determined to justify my purchase, made two of the recipes today. The magazine was the Cook's Illustrated Soups and Stews issue, and both of the recipes I made were very tasty. Russian-Style Beef and Cabbage Soup. Russian-Style Beef and Cabbage Soup. 1 tsp canola oil. 1 medium onion, chopped. 5 Pou...
Cooking for Elaine: June 2010

Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Sweet and Sour Chicken. Aaahh I have nothing witty to say tonight. On to the food. I had two chicken breasts defrosting in the fridge and nothing exciting planned. I needed something quick that could be thrown together after getting home from a late day at work (which usually means walking in the door at 7:30 at the earliest). I found this recipe on EatingWell.com. And it fit the bill. Sweet and Sour Chicken Breasts. Corn on the cob. Grilled Peaches with Honeyed Ricotta. 1 Stir th...
Bitching in the Basement: 01/01/2010 - 02/01/2010
http://bitchingbasement.blogspot.com/2010/01
Bitching in the Basement. Notes from a script and manuscript writer. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. I'm doing another draft of my manuscript from last year. And I'm suspicious that the story I want to write is still beyond my skill to convey. It's got 2 protagonists, who are also each others' antagonists.4 POVs.action sequences.and about a million sub-plots. What do I do? I still believe in the story, but I just don't know if I can handle it. On the other hand, it feels like a cop-out to dump it.
Cooking for Elaine: September 2010
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 26, 2010. Deconstructed Chicken Parm and Brussels Sprouts with Port-Balsamic Reduction. Today was a lazy football Sunday. You're lucky I cooked anything, because there was a serious temptation to spend the whole day eating nachos and napping on the couch. This dinner was cobbled together out of necessity, as I did not feel like going to the store. There was some freezer and cabinet scrounging involved, and things turned out pretty well. 1 bone-in, skinless chicken breast. 2 T kosher salt.
Cooking for Elaine: Pop Quiz!
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2011/01/pop-quiz.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. We were traveling much of last week and did not do any cooking. I challenged my chef-y friends to come up with something tasty using the ingredients on hand.here's what Heather made (and I can't wait to make it myself! Addendum: I made this for dinner tonight, and it was superb. My changes:. 1) I used 1 cup sliced leeks instead of the green onions and shallot. 2)I used dried dill in place of the marjoram. 3)I threw a parmesan rind in just for fun. Adapted from myrecipes.com.

Cooking for Elaine: Ain't No Scurvy Here...
http://cookingforelaine.blogspot.com/2011/01/ain.html
Saturday, January 29, 2011. Ain't No Scurvy Here. Now is the time when many of my meals take on an orange hue. In an effort to use up the over-abundance of oranges on our tree, I drink, eat, and cook with oranges for practically the entire winter. We should all have such troubles. Seared Scallops with Orange-Sesame Glaze. Seared Scallops with Orange-Sesame Glaze. 2 T low-sodium soy sauce. 2 T maple syrup or honey. 1/4 c orange juice. Zest of 1/2 an orange, cut into strips. 2 pieces star anise (optional).

Nido de (er)ratas... Mictlan supone las artes
Nido de (er)ratas. Mictlan supone las artes. Miércoles, 21 de enero de 2015. Alrededor de estos días suceden cosas. Quesos. Casas. Casos. Hoy suceden cosas, c...
