Crowdsourced Legislation & Policy. August 21, 2013. Crowdsourcing is going to revolutionize how government legislation is drafted and how policy is created and executed. And why not? How will this revolution occur? IBM recently produced an excellent series of articles on government crowdsourcing. And the co-design and co-production of government services. If you have 18 minutes, Clay Shirky has an excellent TED talk. But why not go all the way and adopt an OpenCongress model, where pending legislation is...

Saturday, April 6, 2013. Goodbye Cable, Hello Apple TV! Last week I received a courtesy call from an AT&T U-verse representative asking for feedback on the company's Digital TV, High Speed Internet and Voice services. It was a spontaneous decision, but I took the opportunity while on the call to cancel the digital TV service. We've had an Apple TV. Since the release of the quirky first generation model that always seemed to need a restart and took forever to download and store content. The newer Appl...

Like most kitchen utensils a fork sits in a drawer until selected for limited-use tasks. The difference here is the Windows PC that adorns my work desk won't fit inside a drawer and it can't be cleaned quite as easily. But it has now been relegated to limited and specific-use purposes. Last week I purchased through the Apple app store the Mac version of OmniFocus.

Sunday, March 2, 2014. Apple As An Episodic Enterprise. As a member of the Braeburn Group of independent Apple analysts, there isn’t a day that goes by I’m not slicing and dicing the latest company news and media speculation about forthcoming products. For our members, Apple analysis is a full-contact, participatory sport. No one has the luxury of just sitting on the sidelines. As analysts we seek to take both a short-term and long-term view of the company. Because data is both current and historical...
