Sunday, November 28, 2010. On the run today we went down to the beach. Not sure how these were formed, but they looked like unusual sculptures along the shore. Links to this post. Sunday, September 26, 2010. The Last Weekend in September. What a great weekend. Went to the Carpenter Nature Center's Raptor Release on Saturday. The skies threatened rain but changed to partly cloudy and warm sunshine. What a great opportunity to see these amazing animals up close and learn more about them as a species. Saturday, January 12, 2013. Went running/hiking today. The temps started around 20. By the time we finished, it was down to 18. The wind was brisk and we stayed in the trees for the most part. We did about 4 miles or so, saw 4 other runners - all going much faster than I. There were a few slippery places and we both wore Yax Trax so we didn't have any falls. Sunday, October 24, 2010. The storms last night did not prevent us from running / birding at Afton SP today. The parking lot was pretty empty this morning and we were out for a couple of hours - until I realized I lost my phone out there. I retraced my steps for quite a while but did not find it. Sunday, November 21, 2010. What a Difference a Day Makes. Today: Warmer, icy, cloudy, foggy, calm winds and deer. Just one other car in the parking lot. In the open areas, the fog created a light mist, but not enough to soak my jacket. In the trees, it was like rain. The drops must form on the branches and then rain down. Thursday, August 16, 2012. It's been a while. Temps in the upper 60's with lots of clouds. Perfect for running. I've been running, just not as much. The birds were pretty quiet. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Why run hill repeats? Dave and Luther used to run repeats at Afton, up and down the long gravel road. They finished Leadville and other mountainous ultra runs. Nigel used to run up and down the hill on the north end, up from the river, past the overlook to the prairie. He finished Hardrock several times. Thursday, November 25, 2010. Thanks for the beautiful day. We weren't alone, the tracks in the snow indicated a lot of activity even though we didn't see what made the tracks. And we saw other runners, Bill and his family arrived just as we were leaving. Jeffrey, Lynnette, and their friends were enjoying a warm fire and conversation after their run.
