Living in Style with an Eco Chic Twist. Headed for Times Square by pedicab. It doesn't matter where I am on New Year's Eve, I always manage to watch the countdown/crystal ball drop in Times Square. If you are in New York, you can still visit the Duracell Smart Power Lab. And pedal on one of their six power rovers to help generate the 32000 watt hours needed to light up the 2010 numbers for the countdown. Lettering on Shorpy, part 1. May 24th, 2010. The treasure trove of vintage photography featured on Shorpy. Provides endless samples of commercial sign painting and architectural lettering from the 1850s through the 1950s. Though the site doesn’t specifically focus on the topic of graphic art, the abundance of lettering isn’t surprising considering the amount of images from the so-called Second Industrial Revolution. A period of dramatic growth in consumer culture, fueled in part by public advertising.

Bethany Heck and End Grain. January 20th, 2010. A portion of Bethany Hecks wood type collection. Is a student currently in her senior year in the Graphic Design program. At Auburn University in Alabama. She has been collecting wood type since her freshman year there a fact that seems to make sense considering her design pedigree (her father teaches graphic design).
