Notes From the Edge of the Spectrum: April 2012
http://notesfromtheedgeofthespectrum.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Notes From the Edge of the Spectrum. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. It's been a long time since I have posted! Mostly just because I have been very busy. I have been substituting for our school district both as a teacher's aide in special ed and in the clinic for the school nurses. And I have been job hunting and taking an RN Return to Practice class at our local community college. And last week I got a job! I learn something new from Alex all the time! Notes From the Edge of the Spectrum. Tuesday, March 5, 2013. I know I have not posted in so long. What can I say? I have gone back to work in nursing and after taking care of patients at work and coming home and taking care of my own 4 kids, I am exhausted most days! I am glad to be back at work, I did miss it. I hope all is well with you my friends! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Little Bit Autistic. And other ideas and thoughts . Calcutta is My Mother Documentary. Autism In a Word. Heart, Mind and Seoul.

Monday, April 23, 2012. I can't find my camera. I'm feeling lost since I usually take pictures every day. I'm going to have to start sharing old pictures because I don't know what else to do. We have an IEP tomorrow for Chris. It's round 2 and I'm hoping we can get all the kinks worked out of the draft IEP. I don't mean to be difficult but this is my baby here and I'll do whatever I need to make sure his IEP is going to work for him. Sunday: marinated flank steak, home made french fries, and salad. I nee...

Regarding Autism: February 2010

My life mothering a child on the autism spectrum. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. A new drug . There is a new drug being tested for autism, according to this. It is supposed to supply some sort of enzyme to help digest proteins. The first article I read said the inventor/found claims that studies have shown that some autistic children can't digest protein. This was news to me. We went back on gluten. I couldn't tell any difference, honestly. Maybe I've made a mistake? We got shorter as a species. we got ...

Regarding Autism: August 2010

My life mothering a child on the autism spectrum. Tuesday, August 3, 2010. About hormones and orchid children. Am I possibly making a mistake by not addressing the excess testosterone? I don't know. It seems risky to me, there is just so much we don't understand. Although I understand that testosterone and other androgens can cause damage, it seems to me that for all we know, they might also be elevated for a reason. Maybe they have some other effect that is beneficial - how do we know? An "orchid child"...

Regarding Autism: May 2011

My life mothering a child on the autism spectrum. Friday, May 13, 2011. Well, I finally initiated mitochondrial testing on T a few months ago, and the initial results are back, and they were abnormal. In case someone else may find this helpful, I'm going to reprint the results I got at the end of this post, with names removed. The plasma pyruvate and lactate-to-pyruvate ratios suggest pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDHC) deficiency and indeed when they looked at PDHC complex activity they found half the levels ...

My life mothering a child on the autism spectrum. Friday, April 23, 2010. What the FDA Says About Vaccines. I found this quite astonishing presentation on the FDA website that talks about "adjuvants" in vaccines. This presentation. Was created by a special panel full of MDs and PhDs. I reprint here slide 7 so you can just read it for yourself, in all its glory. 8211; Potentially antigen specific or non-specific potent immune and inflammatory stimulation. 8211; Reassuring observations to date:. Monday, 27 April 2009. I just don't feel like talking to anyone. i seem to have turned into ally sheedy circa the breakfast club era, minus the dandruff and emilio estevez. about a nano second after this occurred to me, a further astonishing revellation dawned- i never really stopped. Being ally sheedy circa the breakfast club era. i just developed a fear of the silence. gasp. quick- everybody draw a jesus and mary chain logo on their army surplus bag and suppress that buzz of self knowledge.
