Practically Penniless: Granny stripes
http://www.practically-penniless.co.uk/2016/10/granny-stripes.html
Learning our way to a simpler, more frugal, environmentally aware and chemical free lifestyle. Saturday, 1 October 2016. The granny-stripe blanket I posted about last time is finished. It's not quite how I originally imagined it would be as I rather stuffed up the initial foundation and it's a lot smaller than the one Lucy from Attic24 made, but I'm happy with it. 6 October 2016 at 07:47. Not sure Id want it over my knees in the car, but it looks very nice. I like the colours. 6 October 2016 at 07:58.
Practically Penniless: Homemade liquid antibacterial soap
http://www.practically-penniless.co.uk/2012/12/homemade-liquid-antibacterial-soap.html
Learning our way to a simpler, more frugal, environmentally aware and chemical free lifestyle. Tuesday, 4 December 2012. Homemade liquid antibacterial soap. My bottle of shop-bought antibacterial liquid soap finally ran out, giving me the opportunity to try making my own. I haven't been brave enough to try making soap from scratch yet; I'm waiting for next summer when the required ventilation doesn't freeze me to death and small child can be outside when I mix the lye! It doesn't look particularly pretty.
Practically Penniless: February 2015

Learning our way to a simpler, more frugal, environmentally aware and chemical free lifestyle. Monday, 16 February 2015. Not your everyday sight. To quote a cousin's favourite phrase, we've been "keeping on keeping on" here, with homeschool, chores and the odd bit of geocaching thrown in for good measure. This morning we accompanied Housemate to a hospital appointment, then as I had some groceries I needed, we decided to go to the Aldi that's near a local country park that we haven't been to before.

Practically Penniless: Chinese New Year
http://www.practically-penniless.co.uk/2014/01/chinese-new-year.html
Learning our way to a simpler, more frugal, environmentally aware and chemical free lifestyle. Wednesday, 29 January 2014. The Chinese New Year falls on 31st January in 2014, when it will become the year of the horse. We've been learning all about the festival, and we've been doing some Chinese New Year themed activities and crafts. First we read all about it using two books I got from the library, then we did some Chinese New Year dictation to help with literacy and spelling. Here's the finished dragon!

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk: June 2015

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Tuesday, 30 June 2015. How did I forget Hay-on-Wye. You know I did a list the other day of places we want to visit if we get the opportunity, I forgot Hay-on-Wye. How did I do that? Continuing on the book theme, one of the 50p books I picked up from a car-boot sale a couple of weeks ago was this. Titty becomes Tatty as BBC rewrites classic". I hope everyone further inland is surviving the heat wave, h...

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Monday, 31 August 2015. Goodbye Summer - why did you leave so soon? The last few days of the month have been very Autumnal and most evenings we've needed the light on by 7.30pm, there's been quite a lot of rain too and when it wasn't raining it was grey. I've even abandoned shorts for leggings on a couple of days and we've lit the Rayburn for hot water again. We picked all the greengages - just 3lb - ...

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Thursday, 6 August 2015. What sort of jam do you fancy? Then yesterday I made Apricot jam, 9 jars of various sizes. The wasps have started to damage the apricots so rapid processing is needed. More have been put in the freezer. Back soon, library day tomorrow - where did 4 weeks go? 6 August 2015 at 17:04. 6 August 2015 at 17:23. All round to yours then for toast and jam? 6 August 2015 at 17:29. My fa...

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Monday, 10 August 2015. Last week and the weekend. It was only when Angela pointed out that I had two books the same in my Library book photo that I noticed - not sure how that happened. I'll return one to Leiston library to get it back into circulation. Then our farmer friend arrived to collect the grass topper and someone else called in to pick up campsite info. And here we are round to Monday again...
Our Quiet Life In Suffolk: Asking for more for less and odd weather.

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Thursday, 21 May 2015. Asking for more for less and odd weather. We heard nothing more. doesn't bode well for an emergency breakdown, does it? He decided to ring the RAC and ask what they could do to match Green Flag and after a bit of negotiating we now have all the cover that Green Flag were offering for a few pounds less than the original RAC renewal cost - Result! Our Quiet Life In Suffolk: July 2015
http://frugalinsuffolk.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Friday, 31 July 2015. One of the tomato plants in the poly-tunnel went rotten at the bottom of the main stem where a side shoot had been removed. It was loaded with green tomatoes, absolutely perfect for making a batch of green tomato chutney. This is a very easy chutney. Nothing to go wrong really and easy to make half the amount. This is how it was made. I have a couple of things that help with jam ...
Our Quiet Life In Suffolk: I ought to look back at July.................

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Monday, 3 August 2015. I ought to look back at July. But I can't be bothered! We have the car back, it's sort-of fixed! Which is when Col discovered that you could buy a part of the part rather than the whole part! The piece on the right is, I think, a Ham stand, though I've not been able to find anything like it on Ebay. The left hand bowl is not so old, probably 1970s but very lovely. Very handy can...

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Saturday, 31 January 2015. There's just one problem with spending most of our time at home. When we do go out there are so many errands to run that it takes the whole morning. For £2.21 minus the £5! Not a lot). Aldi for quite a lot of shopping ( Feb shopping a bit early). With another £5 off. Home by 12.30 and collapse in a heap vowing not to go back to Ipswich until March! The Zig Zag Girl. When the...

Our Quiet Life In Suffolk - making the savings last until pension time. Recipes from my Suffolk Kitchen. Thursday, 31 July 2014. Information on chimney sweeping other stuff. Although C weeded the strawberry bed when he took the net off several weeks ago it was full of weeds again. So that was my job this morning, lots of runners cut off too and a few pegged down to root. Thank you to everyone for comments yesterday, Jill at Loving the Frugal life asked about sweeping the chimneys. Some years we get a bit...

My Practically Perfect Life
My Practically Perfect Life. Monday, January 2, 2012. Potato Harvest from Fall 2011. Here is the fruits of our Summer 2011 potato bucket! We harvested them at the end of October. Not too bad, ha ha, but at least we got something! I rather doubt they got enough water and were totally shaded by the tomatoes. We didn't do anything with them after I dropped in the starts other than toss some grass, garden dirt over the tops of the growing plant. So I guess the turnout isn't too bad. LOL. 1/2 cup diced onion.
