About | The Practice Choir

The Practice Choir is a friendly, informal, adult four part choir based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The singers are mainly amateurs and no auditions are required to join the choir. However, it is necessary to be able to sing in tune and in the case of lower voices, to be able to hold a harmony line. We work with our choirmaster, Derrick Morgan, and pianist/organist Jeremy Cull. Graham Maclagan | The Practice Choir

Was born in 1985. He began his musical training in the Highland village of Kingussie where he was appointed as Parish Organist in 2000. His work with choirs and productions earned him the. Ian Pitt-Watson Memorial Prize for Choral Conductors. Which he received at graduation in 2007. Graham is Associate Director of Music at the Parish Church of St Cuthbert, Edinburgh, and is a Teacher of Music at George Heriot’s School. He was appointed Choirmaster of the Practice Choir in September 2010.
Jeremy Cull | The Practice Choir

Was born in 1970 and read Music at Durham University, where he studied composition with John Casken, and organ with Timothy Hone. In 1992 he moved to Edinburgh to continue his composition studies with Nigel Osborne, completing his doctorate in 2001. He was recently appointed as Director of Music at the Parish Church of St Cuthbert, Edinburgh, and maintains a busy playing schedule, both as recitalist and accompanist. He is a keen advocate of organ transcriptions; his organ transcription of Hamish MacCunn’s.

The Practice Choir | A friendly, informal, adult four part choir based in Edinburgh
Spring term begins 12th April 2018. We’re on an Easter break but our rehearsals resume on Thursday 12th April – 7.30pm at St Vincent’s Chapel, Stockbridge, Edinburgh. Our next concert will take place on Saturday 26th May – and we would be delighted to welcome new singers of all voices, but especially tenors and basses, to join us as we prepare for the concert. Please come along to any Thursday rehearsal if you would like to try us out. The programme for the term includes Faure’s. Give unto the Lord.
