Tuesday Thoughts (4/9/2012) wp.me/p1laXJ-3l. Web site for Pragmatic Preacher LLC. On March 27, 2012 by pragmaticpreacher. If the church is to truly engage community, it needs to do things. The community. This takes both time and work but it’s the place where things can really happen for the church and community. Taking steps toward working with the community takes courage and strength. But doing so helps the church be the transforming force it’s called to be. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are commentin...

Tuesday Thoughts (4/9/2012) wp.me/p1laXJ-3l. Web site for Pragmatic Preacher LLC. On February 28, 2012 by pragmaticpreacher Tagged: church. We’ve all probably been to more church leadership conferences than we can remember. Everything rises and falls on leadership, says John Maxwell. I’m guessing you have your own favorite quotes from the conferences you’ve attended, too. Organize a blood drive? Advocate for affordable housing? The possibilities are endless and limited only by the needs in your community.

Tuesday Thoughts (4/9/2012) wp.me/p1laXJ-3l. Web site for Pragmatic Preacher LLC. On April 3, 2012 by pragmaticpreacher. Seth Godin once said, “Society changes when we change what we’re embarrassed about.” (Read his full post HERE. I have to believe in this case that what is true for society is true for the church as well. When we are sufficiently embarrassed at being a part of a church that is disengaged from its neighborhood we’ll have to change our culture to make engagement the norm.

The Jeff Page: South Carolina

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2012/07/south-carolina.html

Friday, July 6, 2012. Year of First Visit – 2000. Point of Entry – I-95 at South of the Border. Perhaps I should have taken the roadside abomination at the North/South Carolina line on I-95 as an oman predicting that weird things would seem to happen to me in South Carolina. While on a southbound Amtrak through the state we were awakened by a phone call. Our home's burglar alarm had been tripped and the police were on the way. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Jeff Page: December 2011

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 30, 2011. Year of First Visit – 2007. Point of Entry – I-90 near Coeur d’Alene. If you’ve ever been set up on a blind date and found yourself thinking about marriage within the first few moments of meeting her then you know my feelings about Idaho. Alas, the relationship didn’t work out. Though the summer was great, I knew winter would come again. And my tolerance for things like cold, snow, and ice was more than this relationship could handle. Saturday, December 24, 2011. Several trips ...

The Jeff Page: January 2012

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 27, 2012. Year of First Visit – 1976. Point of Entry – Metro North Kansas City. We made a wrong turn. The “Welcome to Kansas” sign was affirmation that we should have gone the other way. It wasn’t that bad; the place we were headed was on the Missouri/Kansas state line. I picked up a card off the “Help Wanted” board at school one day and, though the position was a long shot, I found myself spending a summer living in Missouri and working in Kansas. Friday, January 20, 2012. On our road tr...

The Jeff Page: Utah

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2012/07/utah.html

Friday, July 27, 2012. Year of First Visit – 1995. Point of Entry – I-15 near St. George. There's probably no state more different from where I live than the state of Utah. Yet there is probably no place (besides places that I've lived) where I feel more at home. And though I'd like to explore much more of the state, like the northern mountains and the LDS Geneology Library, pulling off I-15 at highway 9 near Hurricane makes me feel like I've finally arrived home again. The Jeff Page: South Dakota

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2012/07/south-dakota.html

Friday, July 13, 2012. Year of First Visit – 2009. Point of Entry – I-90 near Rapid City. My life changed the instant I crossed into South Dakota. My wife had visited more states than I. I'd been catching up for years and even took some business trips to states she hadn't been. When we touched down in Denver earlier that week we'd come to a tie in the number of states visited. And she'd been to South Dakota before but I hadn't. And of course we stopped in at Wall Drug. This capitol of roadside attrac...

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 27, 2012. Year of First Visit – 2011. Point of Entry – I-95 near Seabrook. New Hampshire currently stands as the only state I've been to without actually stopping in it. My first trip there was on a drive from Boston to Maine. My second trip there, ten days later, was on a drive from New Brunswick to Boston. Though we planned to stop in New Hampshire for a break in our drive, we were out of the state before we had a chance to. Friday, April 20, 2012. Year of First Visit – 1995. Like approac...

http://thejeffpage.blogspot.com/2013/05/virginia.html

Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Year of First Visit – 1998. Point of Entry – I-81 near Bristol. Many of my memories of Virginia start include heavy traffic. Most trips in and out of Virginia, and there have been many, involve severe traffic in the Northern Virginia DC suburbs continuing down I-95 past Fredericksburg. Plus spending five years on staff at summer youth camp followed by another eight years of dropping kids off and picking them up a week later. Plus there were so many church meetings (including trai...
