MrLittlePants' Little Life: June 2005
http://mrlittlepants.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
In which I comment randomly on work, people, news, food, etc. Monday, June 13, 2005. I can breathe again. I fully expected a guilty verdict, but surely that's because I didn't want to be too disappointed. If Michael were found guilty, years and years of my life would have been tainted. Now that he's officially innocent, the haters can shut their nasty mouths. What's the issue here? I stayed quiet. Is that really. All you want to know? Posted by MrLittlePants @ 7:03 PM. New York, NY. Peace out, blogger.

This is one of my favorite things to make these days, and I'm eternally grateful to FreshDirect for providing me with a cheap, constant supply of fish cubes. It's quick, easy and delicious. Fresh ginger (a big, fat piece), grated. 4 or 5 garlic cloves, minced. 3 or 4 tablespoons soy sauce. Juice of 1/2 lemon. 2 tablespoons chunky or smooth peanut butter. 1/2 cup white or basmati rice. 6 When...

Manhattan moins cher: Face it, tipping sucks

Dedicated to helping New Yorkers get through the week with their bank accounts intact. Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Face it, tipping sucks. Thanks to A. K. Brown. For drawing my attention to this story. Doesn’t support my anti-tipping jihad but was kind enough to send it anyway. I hate to be a francosnob, but consider the alternative to tipping:. Dedicated to helping New Yorkers get through the week with their bank accounts intact. Sunday, August 28, 2005. Futon mattress, $145 from ikea, developed a hole after only a few months of use. The futon frame. Has poorly designed cast-iron legs that poked right through it. We tried nylon tape, and of course duct tape, but neither stopped the hole from growing to a gash. And K-mart would have that, if they have anything. If it holds, feel free to call me Patches. Posted by Doctor Barnett @ 1:57 PM. It onl...

Dedicated to helping New Yorkers get through the week with their bank accounts intact. Wednesday, June 22, 2005. So much for the citi. I noticed a $4.50 charge from my bank. But like most banks these days the balance is ignored if you have direct deposit. (That charitably applies even for my paltry salary.) If you live in New York, California, or Las Vegas (what? Things are getting pretty lopsided at least in the banking department, Pierre. Posted by Doctor Barnett @ 8:33 AM. Sunday, June 12, 2005. It am...

Dedicated to helping New Yorkers get through the week with their bank accounts intact. Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Redistribute the wealth: Eat out in NYC! It's frustrating to me, the tip situation. It's bad enough shopping in the U.S., with advertised prices jumping 5-8% at the register thanks to sales tax. And it’s bad enough eating outside of New York, adding in taxes and then another 15% for tip. (Why does everything have to be a damn accounting exercise? The service wasn’t even good. I have an alterna...

Tapestry’s HTML template parser can handle the kind of HTML you’ll find in the wild: unquoted attribute values. Mixed uppercase and lowercase, single or double quotes, unquoted attribute values. And lots of additional whitespace. [Emphasis mine.]. And those ridiculous cover illustrations too, Manning. Posted by Doctor Barnett @ 12:23 PM. We’ve been pretty d...
