Prairie Wood Angler

Documenting fishing experiences in the Upper Midwest where prairie, hardwoods, and boreal forests meet- with occasional adventures elsewhere. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Well, I'm finally back on writing the PWA blog again. It was an extremely busy year and I'll spare the details. But, I still managed to get plenty of angling in. Like where does our food come from… so ask, where does our fly-tying materials come from, right? As fly fishermen continue to advance their status as ste...

Documenting fishing experiences in the Upper Midwest where prairie, hardwoods, and boreal forests meet- with occasional adventures elsewhere. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Classic Flies for the Winter Trout Season. I like to fish these Size 16; but, depending on conditions and your dropper you may want to go up or down a size. Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear Nymph. American Pheasant Tail Nymph. A good fly selection will limit the damage done here. Eliminate your demons by tying good flies and making good casts.

Documenting fishing experiences in the Upper Midwest where prairie, hardwoods, and boreal forests meet- with occasional adventures elsewhere. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Not Quite Turnover. Yet. Trolling muskies through October snow squalls. It ended up being another long and cold day on the lake. But, between snow squalls we managed to hook-up a nice 38-inch pike in open water. Not a muskie, but a fine local speciman. And, no doubt a cisco-eater. Twitch in the tail. and goin' back! TONIGHT.NE WIND T...

Trout Smallmouth. Steelhead. Minnesota. Wisconsin. Sometimes Montana. Caribou Rock/Border Route Trail Part II →. Yellow Lady’s Slippers. June 11, 2013. I’ve been fishing. The cool weather and chaotic work load/schedule had made my trips difficult and infrequent. Fish were caught. I didn’t take any photos. It’s been that kind of spring. But, as a teacher, the school year ends. The year ended yesterday. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Caribou Rock/Border Route Trail Part II →. Great Lakes Fly Shop.

MOUND

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Tomorrow I leave Brooklyn for Minnesota, early as my body allows and after a day's respite. These will travel with me: Grandma's tea, Rosa 'New Dawn,' a handful of Huechera, and some Red Hook sidewalk Seaside Goldenrod. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. My friend, Steve, took me to The Gardner. A Boston mansion of yore festooned with incredible artifacts, whose rooms invite photography yet rules regard it with suspicion due to an embarrassing theft of grand proportions 25 years ago.

Prairie Wood Golf Golf Accessories and Apparel

Golf Accessories and Apparel. How Much Could a Golf Rangefinder Improve Your Game? May 30, 2011. Middot; Leave a Comment. Golf is a game of distance. Rangefinders can improve your game by providing more accurate measurements from your lie in the fairway to the flag on the green. Knowing the distance to the pin takes the guesswork out of which club to use. For a rangefinder to really improve your game, you need to be consistent with your clubs. If you still can’t predict how far the ball will fly with...
