Friday, July 17, 2015. Here are some photos from around the park, taken this month. Before the birds and landscapes, here is a family of grizzlies seen along the East Road, north of Yellowstone Lake. This grizzly has two cubs of the year which means they were born this winter while she was hibernating. Cinnamon Teal along the edge of the Madison River. Canada Geese with their goslings. Saturday, September 7, 2013. For a few days in late August, I played tourist, although I promise I did not ask anyone, standing on the waterfront or on the Allen Marine boat I took on a tour, what the elevation was, or if the water was salt water, or if postcards mailed from Sitka needed foreign postage. Monday, June 17, 2013. That's the Sea Lion Express, the boat we travel in for this tour. After a tour of the cannery, guests board a bus for the trip back to town. The road ends just before the cannery so they is a short nature walk through the forest and across a bridge with nice waterfall. The bus stops at Saxman Village to see the totem poles. This is an old dormitory. Today fishermen store equipment at the site. Our captain stores his dungeness crab pots here and uses them in the winter months.

Monday, May 11, 2015. Craters of the Moon National Monument. A stop at Craters of the Moon National Monument is a great segue on my journey to Yellowstone. This lava strewn landscape is part of the volcanic processes that also shape shaped Yellowstone. So are Miracle Hot Springs at Buhl, ID where I spent a couple days relaxing.
