Poetry, reflections and book talk. Writing an ‘aftermath’ poem. To rhyme or not to rhyme. That’s life and it’s ok. The world around us. Silence – not necessarily golden. Things I learned from a weeklong stay in Paris. What is it like to be you? A nice gesture and some Q&A. Children’s picture books that evoke nostalgia-a few of my favorites. My kind of Music. A musical gem-Silk Route. Want easy updates on the blog? Have every new post delivered directly to your email. My kind of Music. The world around us.

Poetry, reflections and book talk. December 31, 2014. December 31, 2014. It is the last day of the year today and looking back and saying goodbye to 2014, I am attempting to recap it by revisiting some of my tweets from the year and finding a place for them here on my blog. I signed up for Twitter. I welcomed the challenge of writing within the confines of this framework and found that I quite liked the process of condensing and distilling my words to fit into a tweet or two. Truth and the Intangibles.

Poetry, reflections and book talk. January 28, 2015. I realize that I have been missing in action here at the blog for some time now. I have been a bit preoccupied in the last few weeks, taking a couple of online courses, educating myself about writing. The course is tough and I feel stretched to the edges but I am learning a lot and having a great time doing it. I have written a decent amount lately, probably more than I have in the months preceding. So stay tuned folks! January 31, 2015 at 8:56 am.
Writing an ‘aftermath’ poem | Preeti Parikh

Poetry, reflections and book talk. Writing an ‘aftermath’ poem. January 16, 2015. January 16, 2015. AFTER PAINTING THE CHAIR. It stood there simply. With its arching back and sinewy arms,. Resting its four legs on. Wrinkled and splattered sheets of newspaper. Bearing what were now blotched accounts. Of the ordinary lives of regular folks. A container of black paint lay askew–. Faint rivulets of color stains on it. Where the pigment had bubbled over. Reaching for a levelled ground. Into the beads of sweat.

Thursday, 5 June 2014. Happy Pets for happy life! Being around nonthreatening animals, domesticated or otherwise, calms humans. The reason for this seems buried in our prehistory: Back then if we were around other creatures and all was peaceful, that meant predators weren't lurking nearby, about to pounce on us. Going back to college after working for 8 years can be a daunting (even scary), but very worthwhile experience. Why is the return to school such a moving experience? It’s sort of like reading a book. Once I came back to school, I realized, it’s an experience one never outgrows quite frankly. Well, absence of paycheck does make you look forward to happy hours and sale shopping but who doesn’t enjoy and $2 beer!

Sunday, 7 February 2016. Three people were working on a project that turned out a complete disaster. The boss called them one by one, and as he appraised them, he criticized their work using a harsh tone. The second one was quite upset about the way his boss spoke to him. He could not express his resentment and continued to be in a sulking state for quite a long time. Let me elaborate it more by taking examples in different aspects of our lives starting with our thinking. 8211; Positive thinking is certa...

I am what I am , crazy, chirpy, fuzzy, whizzy, supersonic and idiotic! Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Disturbed. Sleepless. Horrified. Innocent children. Traumatic survivors. Helpless parents. Solution? Not any that I can think of. Gun control? May be. How does one control the troubled and ill wired neuron system though? All I pray is, I dont want to be a part of this number. I dont want to die being a statistic. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. One year In a nut shell. Did I enjoy doing technical work? S likes me to tr...
