Apathy as a Social Evil. Apparently the Roundtree Foundation is reclassifying it's Social Evils. And political apathy gets a mention. Cue this quote from Nick M in the Samizdata comments section. Posted by La Bete @ 11:23. Thanks, it is pleasing to know that someone appreciates it! At 27 July, 2007 14:35. I see that I managed to comment on the wrong post yesterday. For some reason, Blogger's comment system always seems to be a pain in the arse. At 28 July, 2007 11:26. Wine and Cheese to the rescue.

The main problem was where my sleeping bag got compressed under me and lost it's insulation. On the second and third nights I used my thermarest and that worked better. Posted by La Bete @ 23:00. It's interesting reading, and I think our politics are very close. All good stuff. BTW - are you guys affected by the floods at all? At 27 July, 2007 21:16. Luckily no floods where I live, being on a hill, but there are plenty of flooded areas all around. My route between home and work is now very busy as people use it to avoid all the flooded areas in the vicinity.

SlideLock: The Camera Never Lies?
http://www.slidelock.co.uk/2007/07/camera-never-lies.html
The Camera Never Lies? Fascinating account from the Force Science Research Centre. What seems especially interesting is the importance of instinctive reactions in the multiple shots - the decision to shoot had been taken and the three shots landed in around 1.8 seconds. Also, the inability of the officer, an experienced and capable-sounding guy to give accurate commands under pressure. This is especially important when we consider the need for similar commands when managing unknown contacts. Dr Bill Lewi...
