http://caterpillarstobutterflies1.blogspot.com/2009/05/safety-of-his-car.html
Nursing in the inner city. Sunday, May 24, 2009. The Safety of his Car. I ask him. He says no and tells me he knows he needs to be on medication but he can't afford it and it's too hard for him to leave the safety of his car. . Where do you get your food? I ask him, imagining him waiting in a crowded food bank line and wondering how he can tolerate that. "I steal my food." "How do you do that? No But sometimes I think they know I do this and just look the other way.". I haven't seen him since.

Nursing in the inner city. Friday, January 23, 2009. If opposites could have attracted. I told her she needs to be evaluated by a psychiatrist to determine if she's bipolar. I told her anyone who has experienced as much as she has would have mood swings and deep feelings. I told her she's an absolutely amazing person and a survivor. I promised her we'd help her get the help she needs. I wish this first patient, born into a family full of hate had had a guardian angel like this woman, so full of love.

Nursing in the inner city. Thursday, April 16, 2009. She begins her story, listing the horrible things in her life with the same emotion given to reading a shopping list. "I have hepatitis C. I think I got that a long time ago when I experimented with drugs and now I have cirrhoses of the liver." She stops looking at the papers in her box long enough to say, "Oh and I've been treated for PTSD". "What's your PTSD from? As always, thanks for posting. April 18, 2009 at 8:00 AM. Nursing in the inner city. Thursday, October 30, 2008. I see that McInsane and Sarah Palin are now palling around with Joe the unlicensed plumber. Yes, Joe. Another person on our staff got her car broken into today. It happens almost weekly. I've been lucky so far. Poverty and a bad healthcare system. Monday, October 27, 2008. All in the name of Allah.

Caterpillars to Butterflies: November 2008
http://caterpillarstobutterflies1.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Nursing in the inner city. Friday, November 21, 2008. I saw a bumper sticker on the back of someone's car that read:. Because we can't all be on welfare. The word 'REPUBLICAN' was very large. It wasn't until I got up close that I could see 'Because we can't all be on welfare'. When I first saw it, I gasped in horror. Then I thought maybe it's. Dangerous. It keeps the poor, poor and that helps to foster inequality. Thursday, November 20, 2008. Cycle of Poverty (2). Her husband decided he'd had enough of t...

I, too, am here: In the land of Renaissance
http://itooamhere.blogspot.com/2015/06/in-land-of-renaissance.html
Jun 23, 2015. In the land of Renaissance. We came upon a troupe of actors or pyromaniacs as we later discovered. More than one item was set on fire during their performance with amazing feats of juggling,. And they talked to chickens. We laughed until the tears swelled in our eyes and began to spill over their brims. Abruptly the fighting came to a halt. "Do you think that my bum is cute? The Englishman demanded. Then turned around for all of us to gaze at his backside. I think that he had his pr...Joust...

Caterpillars to Butterflies: Caterpillar to Butterfly
http://caterpillarstobutterflies1.blogspot.com/2009/06/caterpillar-to-butterfly.html
Nursing in the inner city. Saturday, June 13, 2009. I walk in the room and see a husband and wife sitting on opposite sides of the exam table. I've seen him before. He's a gentle and sweet African American man. I've never seen his wife, my patient today. She has a heaviness about her; brows furrowed, shoulders slumped. I start talking about her medical issues and she asks her husband to leave the room. You look depressed. Do you feel sad about something? She tells me her kids have no idea how lucky they ...
