Bear Swamp Reflections: February 2011
http://bearswampreflections.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 24, 2011. It all started with the dishwasher. For someone who grew up in the stone ages (nearly), I've had a lot of computer learning to do lately. Choosing one wasn't too difficult. I went with a mid-level LG, computerized (what isn't these days), white to match the rest of my appliances. The only good thing I can say about washing dishes by hand is it makes arthritis feel better for a little while, but that benefit is offset slightly by the dishpan hands. Boy, am I spoiled. Anyway, s...

Bear Swamp Reflections: October 2010
http://bearswampreflections.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 3, 2010. In the tradition of Ernest Hemingway, who was once challenged to write a short story in six words. His six-word story was: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn.". Each week I will choose a theme. It is your mission, if you choose to accept it, to meet that challenge in six words, no more, no less. If you like, you may illustrate with a photo, or not. Punctuation will be your biggest ally. If you don't want to create your own post, you can write your six-word story in my comments.

Bear Swamp Reflections: December 2010
http://bearswampreflections.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 30, 2010. Now that 2010, and the first decade of the millenium, is almost over, I thought it was time for you to learn a few things about me. So, here are ten things that most of you don’t know. Don't you just hate this kind of post? 1 When I was a senior in high school, our class took our Senior Trip to Washington, D.C. and to New York City! 2 I didn’t go to college. Well, one semester, but that doesn’t really count, does it? Will they think it’s stupid? 8 Following the successful bir...

Bear Swamp Reflections: It's been a long time coming
http://bearswampreflections.blogspot.com/2012/09/its-been-long-time-coming.html
Thursday, September 27, 2012. It's been a long time coming. Where have I been, you ask? Right here, but disengaged from the blogging world for a while. Needing time to come to terms with the circumstances of our lives here in the Swamp and beyond. It's been a very hard year, and I just didn't have the heart to write, but our lives have mostly resumed their hectic everyday struggles and the most welcome joys that lighten our hearts. There is a lot of catching up to do. Well, that included my prepping and ...

Bear Swamp Reflections: May 2011

Friday, May 6, 2011. Mom, baseball, and apple pie. Mom and my stepdad Lawrence, at my brother 's house, the year before she passed away. Image by lethal lane at photobucket. The most excited I think I ever saw my mother was during the 1975 and 1976 World Series games, when "The Big Red Machine". The roster was a dream team: Johnny Bench. Image taken from Food Network site, but it looks a lot like Mom's. 8 cups Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Bake at 400...

Bear Swamp Reflections: August 2011

Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Photo taken by her Poppy on August 14, 2011. Taken from us on August 15. She was so full of life, from the moment she was born. Full of intense curiosity and intelligence, she wanted to be in the middle of every conversation. Her smile was radiant and at times mischievous. She liked to get her own way, and often if she got the better of me, she would say "You're the best, Grammy! Posted by Susan Drummond. Links to this post. Monday, August 15, 2011.
