Sunday, December 20, 2009. A couple of years ago I posted here. About a great hot cocoa recipe, and I've pulled it out again this year as simple Christmas gift. It's from the 2008 America's Test Kitchen. Cookbook, and is super simle to make (and even better to drink). I did a double batch that filled 12 jelly jars perfectly. It'd be cute to pair it with a mug or two and maybe some marshmallows? Anyway, just thought I'd share. Hope you are enjoying the holiday season! Best Ever Hot Cocoa Mix.

Monday, January 10, 2011. So many good books, so little time. Looking at this stack of books {which have been accumulating next to the couch for some time now} makes me want to hole up in this house for about a week and read / clean / organize / redecorate and otherwise get some stuff done around here! The new year is off and running, and I have a fresh dose of motivation. Maybe this giant stack of books will help me. If nothing else, they will be good reading. Saturday, April 2, 2011. Favorite. Find. Ever. Found this for $1 at an estate sale with my girlfriends a couple weeks ago. It was just lying in an empty garage with a dozen or so other books. I almost jumped for joy when I found it. After watching Julie and Julia, who wouldn't want a copy? It's a 1966 printing, and it a little worn, which makes it just about perfect. Nothing I love more than finding a treasure like this! It was a good find! And a story to remember to go with it : ). I loved that movie!

Monday, April 18, 2011. I've been in the mood to change a few things up and do some painting. This project wasn't on my list but I couldn't resist doing it first. I found this chair by a dumpster and couldn't pass it up for a new flower chair. It is really sturdy and made of maybe Oak? I decided on a nice bright white paint. And the round basket I was going to use (and didn't bother to see if it fit first) didn't fit. I looked thru my things and found this square wire basket and liked how it looked.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011. This little guy is way into bugs these days. He loves bugs. It kind of started with the show Monster Bug Wars. To bad there was only 6 episodes and we've seen all of them about a hundred times. He loves finding bugs, watching shows about bugs, books about bugs and playing with his bug toys. He identifies all the bugs he finds too. this is a bulldog rescue cricket, a cellar spider, a black-widow spider.we've found all kinds of species : ). Boys and bugs, what can you do.

Saturday, March 26, 2011. This little critter decided to visit our yard a few weeks ago. The kids were getting a kick out of watching it wander around the yard. It was out there for a long time, keeping us inside and then decided to get really close to the house and disappear under the deck. We didn't see it again that night but we did smell it!
