Last Sunday, September 4th I visited PNM with 'Bootje Varen Bart'. New for PNM: passing through were a Chesnut-winged Cuckoo and some Yellow-rumped Flycatchers.

Expansion of the Prey Nup Mangrove Area. An area of 25-some hectares on the river-side of the dike was added to the Prey Nup Mangrove area followed by this blog. It has been used for growing rice for many years, but will now become mangroves again. Trees have been planted in rows by the Fisheries Department.

On the 3rd of April we went on a kayak trip to the sea-side of the mangroves when a fish trap was spotted in one of the small canals going into the mangroves from the river. The trap was removed by the rangers to be destroyed and showed to contain some 20 Horseshoe Crabs. Ranger removing the fish trap, opening up the canal again.
