Inspired Thoughts Arising from the Travails of Modern Life. Quote of the Week. Quote of the Week. Quote of the Week 3/9/14. Posted by Paul Rotter. March 9, 2014. Quote of the week. Lately I’ve been amazed by how little I often accomplish in a full day’s work. I sit at my computer for hours at a time, typing, reading, revising, becoming aggravated, becoming inspired, on it goes, and at the end of the day, only a few measly unpolished pages to show for it. Such is the life of a writer. Paul Rotter was born...

Inspired Thoughts Arising from the Travails of Modern Life. Quote of the Week. Posted by Paul Rotter. February 11, 2014. Watch this, Steven called to me, striking an awkward pose at the three-point line. He palmed the ...

Inspired Thoughts Arising from the Travails of Modern Life. Quote of the Week. Book Review: The Risk Pool by Richard Russo. Posted by Paul Rotter. March 15, 2014. A typical coming of age story, The Risk Pool. Is an entertaining, if somewhat flat, second novel from Pulitzer prize-winning author Richard Russo. Bold, quirky characters and clever dialogue kept me turning the pages but never seemed to produce satisfying rising action (or resolution). That the book is really about Ned’s diminishing relationshi...

The Price is White
I grew up in central Kentucky and loved every minute of it. I had a rock band, played sports and enjoyed a variety of friends. After earning a degree from U of L, life has brought me from a job with the BIG EAST Conference in Rhode Island, all the way back to Kentucky where I live now. Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Slow Down Young Man, Slow Down. The sad thing is how rarely I take the time to slow down and appreciate it. None of these things really matter to anyone else, they are special to me right now, but ...

Evicted from Neverland
Friday, February 25, 2011. A day in the life. Today my back and my pride are sore. We made popsicle stick bridges at work with the kiddos. To declare a winner, each bridge had to go through 3 rounds of vigorous testing. Round 1: 4 dictionaries. Round 2: 4 dictionaries plus ALL SEVEN Harry Potter books.hardback. Round 3: Miss Christine. It can hold more weight than me and I weigh almost 140 pounds! At this point a student chimed in, "Really? I would have guessed more." SORE PRIDE. Sunday, January 2, 2011.
