This is a poem I wrote upon a second week of frustrations about not being able to buy my tickets to Machu Picchu in advance due to a crummy Peruvian website. Dear Machu Picchu,. Oh how I’d like to see you. In all your historical glory. Your rocks on high hills soaring. Miles above the sea. Yet here I am still thinking. About this terrible sinking. Your website does oft bring. To my stomach and the sting. Of seeing once again. Perhaps a time will come.

Elevation. 8,210 It’s the summit of the mountain. You and I have been there. A Grand Wizard I met along the trail used his magical device and gave me my start and ending elevations. 6,640- 8,210ft. Things have changed along the beaten path. An old tree knocked over. As is oft to happen said the Wizard to me. Perhaps been used since last bitter cold.

Briefly, I will say that I have hope you will enjoy some of the directions the novel is taking. Max’s pop-tune tendencies lend themselves toward a fun-and-games attitude throughout the heavy stuff, which should make the book more of a page turner if it works out.
