Pride and Prejudice and Brooklyn. October 21, 2012. Here’s a picture of a beautiful tree I saw in Prospect Park on my run yesterday morning, as an apology for being gone for so long:. It should really come as no surprise to you that I love October. It’s the start of fall, the month of birthdays, the month before November, which contains Thanksgiving, which means it’s almost December, which means Christmas is right around the corner! And also pumpkins. And hot cider. And changing leaves. May 14, 2012.
I love New York | Pride & Prejudice & Brooklyn
https://prideandprejudiceandbrooklyn.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/i-love-new-york
Pride and Prejudice and Brooklyn. I love New York. September 12, 2011. It’s a somber day in New York. You know why. I don’t have to explain it. And I’ve gone back and forth on whether I wanted to write anything today about today, and I decided, 5 minutes after I should’ve gone to bed, that I do. If the New York I have always known remains, on the surface, unchanged? If I was not directly affected by the tragedies of that infamous Tuesday morning? But then I ride the Q train across the Manhattan Bridge at...

Pride and Prejudice and Brooklyn. To my sister, on her graduation day:. May 14, 2012. I also remember your first day of kindergarten at Hillcrest. I couldn’t wait to have you at school with me to share all of the experiences that I was starting to love. Do you see where I’m going with this? So when the dust settles, when the pomp and the circumstance has quieted, when it feels like everything is over, that’s actually when it begins. There’s a whole great big world out here just waiting fo...You are comme...
I felt the earth move… | Pride & Prejudice & Brooklyn
https://prideandprejudiceandbrooklyn.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/i-felt-the-earth-move
Pride and Prejudice and Brooklyn. I felt the earth move…. August 27, 2011. As we New Yorker prepare for Hurricane Irene, I thought I’d take this opportunity (while we still have power) to tell you about this week’s first natural disaster. If you’ve ever been to a barbecue at my house, chances are, you’ve heard The Fire Story. And The Flood Story. Well, here’s one for the ages: The Earthquake Story. Allow me to set the mood. And then I found $5. August 28, 2011 at 12:01 am. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

https://theonedrawerkitchen.wordpress.com/2011/04/16/just-like-mom-used-to-make
Four girls, one drawer. Just Like Mom Used to Make. April 16, 2011 4 Comments. It’s a rainy and miserable April afternoon, the kind that even the promise of May flowers can’t redeem, the kind where you sit around and eat soup, and watch TV, and even the characters on the TV are eating soup. (Synergy! I’m trying to find the silver lining of all of these clouds, and am using this evening to look through the many pictures of my mom’s visit. There’s nothing like a salty, fishy sandwich and a sample of ...

Cornmeal Griddle Cakes | Things My Roommate Makes
https://thingsmyroommatemakes.wordpress.com/2012/03/13/cornmeal-griddle-cakes
Things My Roommate Makes. I dig pancakes. Even when they aren’t pumpkin flavored or shaped like Yoda’s head. They are a breakfast treat to get excited about. This is not simply because they often serve as a vehicle for two of my favorite items: butter and maple syrup, the real deal stuff, you know, from trees – it’s because pancakes are different. They don’t just make your kitchen smell like mornings or brinner. Baked Explorations: Classic American Desserts Reinvented. By Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito.
