Of course the capital is Canberra, but the good thing about Sydney is that everybody in the world knows it (which we're afraid cannot be said of Canberra;-). Anyway, we're glad to be here. Steph and Claudi in Gsidney. Thoughts along the way. Bigger machines and cheaper chicken. Eugene Peterson rarely fails to get at least a smile from me as I'm reading his books. not because of any witty jokes, but because of his ability to accurately observe things that I far too often have to recognize as true in my own life. Being committed to raising the standard of living". What an apt and timely description of the dream of Western society, myself far too much included! Bigger, better, faster, more.

Steph and Claudi in Gsidney. Thoughts along the way. And we were overwhelmed by the generosity and the help we have received from so many different people and in many different ways. On Friday, 23.11., Klaus (Claudi's Dad) arrived - so we've spent lots of time with him during the last two weeks, showing him around, 'allowing' him to help us move and fix things in our new flat (isn't it GREAT to have a Dad who can fix things! Steph and Claudi in Gsidney. Thoughts along the way. It was occasions like birthdays or Christmas when we felt most strongly how far away from family we were - so it was very special to have a family-birthday-celebration again - first one in 3 years! As a nice little bonus we were given a beautiful Austrian summer day, so we could sit outdoors and feel all holiday-y for a few hours! Stephan's first birthday "back home". Cousins (2 of Steph's nieces). We even had our very own little fireworks.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008. 9 days to go. There are nine days to go until we arrive home. Our time in Fiji has been wananavu (awesome in Fijian). There are so many sights, sounds, smells and experiences that I want to share. I have kept a journal (but am slightly behind). There has been so much to absorb and try to understand. I have had minimal internet access, but you know what - I haven't missed it! Hard as it might be to believe that). Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blogs, and other pages.

Sunday, December 28, 2008. As many of you will know, this past year has been manic to say the least. Somehow I've made it to the end of the year without taking any holidays. But today, I am on holidays - and I'm very excited about it! Sleep deprivation might be impacting the clarity of my verbal skills at this point in time, but nothing a good sleep won't fix. I'm blogging from Wellington airport where I've had a nine hour layover in the middle of the night. I can't believe how busy this place is at 4am!
