The Great Wide Out of Doors. Monday, June 19, 2006. All Kinds of Trail Rated. These are just a few shots of my Jeep in action. I was most proud when she had three pairs of skis and a bike for the most recent ski trip. Pretty sweet to see. Hauling gear for a backpacking trip. Trail Rated. Plowing through creeks. Trail Rated. The Great Wide Out of Doors: March 2007
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Sunday, March 25, 2007. Colorado Doesn't Trust Truckers. We saw this series of signs come down out of the canyon. Oddly, there was no sign at the end to let truckers know that they were now safe. Posted by Slim at 11:03 PM. The ride up was pretty sweet. Passengers sit along the walls of the rear of the tanker, so once the jet is at altitude, you can spread sleeping bags on the floor of passenger compartment and sleep. Probably the greatest flight ever. Colorado is so warm!

The Great Wide Out of Doors: March 2006
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Saturday, March 25, 2006. In January Jeff and I took advantage of a three day weekend to head down to the McCallum creek area, which is towards the bottom of the Delta range. We weren't able to find too much great skiing (mostly because we were looking in the wrong spot), but we got a couple good turns in, enjoyed some great views, and did a lot of scouting for out next trip down there. Mountains on the ski in. Mountains off to our east. The moon over our campsite. Before the...

The Great Wide Out of Doors: May 2006
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Sunday, May 07, 2006. No new trips.a balky knee has been keeping me away. I updated the Steese and Tors trips with some photos from Sam, though. I also found out that the first picture from Alyeska that I claimed was Girdwood (the photo that looks like it's off a postcard) is actually of North Pole. Who would have thunk it? The Great Wide Out of Doors: May 2007
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Thursday, May 10, 2007. Jeff took a Saturday to go down heli-skiing in Valdez, and the snow in the Deltas looked sweet on the way down, so that night we met near McCallum Creek, and headed out the next morning from the Arctic Man parking lot in search of some close-to-the-road schralping. Heli-skiing looked pretty sweet. There was a significant amount of snowmelt, so we had to bootpack some of the way. I'm the little speck on the ridge. Why yes, yes it does. We didn't end up ...

The Great Wide Out of Doors: October 2007
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Kenai and Seward Exploration. Incredibly, the trail we went on traversed 30 miles of mountainous terrain without climbing more than 1000'. I'm not sure how that worked, but after two days of hardcore ultimate, I wasn't unhappy about the break. Reflection made for a postcard, or to be bogarted by Microsoft for a background image or something. Can't complain about that view. Another cool little cove. Overall, it was a sweet trip. Sea kayaking ...As a ...

The Great Wide Out of Doors. Saturday, February 24, 2007. Back from the Desert. The temps were also warm down at Turnagain Pass, so the snow conditions weren't great there, either, but it was good to be out climbing in the mountains again. The slope we climbed up. Jeff schralping down the ice. Some old mine buildings in the Independence Mine. Jeff skiing near the mine buildings. Free heeling amongst the mine buildings. Jeff found a little backcountry jump.going for the 180. King of the Mountain.

The Great Wide Out of Doors: April 2006

The Great Wide Out of Doors. Saturday, April 15, 2006. Schralp the Gnar - To snowboard sweetly on great snow. So neither Jeff nor I snowboard, but one weekend once I got done we drove back down to McCallum Creek for some unfinished business. We weren't able to get started until late Saturday night (we set up camp in the dark), so we spent a bit of Sunday traveling cross-country rather than downhill, but the weather was incredible and there was plenty of gnar to be schralped. Taking a break on top of the ...

The Great Wide Out of Doors: July 2007
http://ijustwantablog.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
The Great Wide Out of Doors. Tuesday, July 03, 2007. One of Jeff's old roommates was in town, and he and his friend wanted to get an Alaskan experience. Being that they were relatively raw campers and hikers, we decided to go out to Hutlinana Hot Springs. I'd never been there before, but found the route from some documents floating around and knew that the hike wouldn't be more than 7 miles in. On the hike in, we walked by a huge array of beaver dams damming up the Hutlinana River. It was pretty sweet.
