Priya's Art Portfolio. A journey through visual arts…. Paper mache carved off of the clay and laid onto poster paper, then painted. Busy poster paper and paper mache arrow sliced away. Canvas painting inspired by the paper mache, painted poster. A second attempt at the canvas, but with a background this time. After many sheets of negative space painting I turned the black ink side of my sheets over and began to cut the negative space of objects. I ended up with lots of different shapes. Priya's Art Portfolio. A journey through visual arts…. 6’2 by 4 Canvas, hand made at the SFU Visual Arts Studio. I set out to paint the negative space of chairs on a large canvas. But as I studied the objects around which I was painting, the objects became alive, they were personified in my mind. I initially only intended to display my canvas, but the objects just became inseparable from the canvas. The painting seemed incomplete without the inanimate objects that inspired it. The lines, details are attempting to capture the brush strokes of the ink-painting. Stage 2 of the clay project was to paper mache the clay 4-5 layers using a design of choice for the first and last layer. And yet, as we know, to live gracefully is to accept the truth and to accept is, at times, to let go. Why then does the heart with a childish fetish clings on to fantasies, desires and dreams?
