These are a few of my favourite things. Friday, October 28, 2011. Brined Gooseberry /Uppilitta Nellikka - 3 large. Brine - to taste (use this instead of salt). Fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup. Birdseye chilli /Kanthari mulaku - 5 (substitute with green chillies if necessary). Shallot - 1 small. Curry leaves - few. Remove seeds from gooseberry but cutting into sections, discard the seeds. Add all the ingredients to a blender/food processor and grind until all ingredients are mixed and coarsely ground.

These are a few of my favourite things. Monday, October 5, 2009. Apple Pickle /Apple Achar. We had gone Apple picking this weekend and came home with a lot of apples.Even after distributing amongst friends we are still left with a lot of apples. Some of them will now go into pickles , cakes and pies. Here is a recipe for Apple pickle .It tastes very similar to kaduku. Use sour unripe apples for the pickle - I used Granny smith Apples. If they are not sour enough you can add a bit. Ginger - 1/2 tsp chopped.

It is generally made light and sweet. It is believed to aid digestion and so is always served after a heavy meal in the malabar region. Sunday, February 17, 2013. 1 cup Finely grated Carrot. 1/4 cup White Sago Pearl. 3/4 cup Fine Sugar. 11/2 cups Boiled Fresh milk. 2 tbsp Condensed milk. 2 tsp Cardamon powder. 6-7 Cashew nuts (broken into small pcs). 2 tbsp Golden Raisins. Clean and soak the sago pearls for 30 mins. Drain the water and keep aside. Now heat a thick bottom pan over medium low heat, add ghee and fry cashew nuts till golden. Drain and keep aside. Serve the carrot sago kheer warm or chilled.
