Choosing to be poor. creative. and loving it. (or pretending to). So I’m pretty stubborn at not taking or even asking for handouts. At one point I was so hungry that I thought about going on food stamps only to miss my appointment because I got a job for the day and despite several applications and voicemails was never granted another appointment. Choosing to be poor. creative. and loving it. (or pretending to). From Here to There. I’m getting a lot more teaching artist work—YIPPEEEEE. However that means I work all over the damn place. And in a sprawling city like Chicago it can take a helluva long time to get from one side to the other. I teach as far south as 63rd, as far west as Oak Park, and as far north as Wilmette! It makes me think about getting a car, but I can’t seem to justify it. Is it worth it? Giving more time to be a human being?
