It can carry a payload of about 1kg once it’s filled with Helium gas. Once it’s reached around 100,000ft in altitude the balloon will have expanded so much due to the very small atmospheric pressure that the balloon will actually burst and allow the payload to fall back to earth. High Altitude Ballooning from Northern Ireland. This flight is currently being prepared for a launch in September. This flight was intended to take images of a solar eclipse shadow. It was successfully launched from Cookstown at 2015-03-20 but failed to rise through the cloud layer, landing in a field not far from the launch site. It took off again before finally coming down in Lough Neagh. No signal was received near the final landing site and the payload was never recovered. Thanks to Anthony Stirk.

Després d'altre procés de selecció, ja hem triat als 6 alumnes que participaran en la tercera trobada d'alumnes i professors que es celebrarà a Amersfoort (The Netherlands). Amb els 6 alumnes de cadascun dels centres educatius participants en el projecte. Com sempre, ha tornat a estar molt difícil decidir els 6 alumnes.
