67 Mustang Renovation Project. A DIY project to renovate El Chato, my 1967 Mustang Hardtop. Sunday, November 10, 2013. Rocker Panel Molding Install. I had to use extra rivets from my kit since I snapped a few of these broken during the install.. Use the metal bracket and screw (included) to attach this clip to the fender. Then I followed through with the remaining smaller holes (5 in total) for the brackets on the fender. Place the molding against the bottom side of the clips as shown, and then snap tog...

'67 Mustang Renovation Project: Assembling the Doors

http://projectelchato.blogspot.com/2013/10/assembling-doors.html

67 Mustang Renovation Project. A DIY project to renovate El Chato, my 1967 Mustang Hardtop. Tuesday, October 15, 2013. I knew the doors would give me a hard time, especially when these were disassembled at the paint shop and all parts placed in a box for me to worry about! So I kept postponing this work until I felt it was the right time. Before installing any of the components below, we installed the brand-new door handles. This allows the most access and space for work. Inserted and attached the vertic...

My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Friday, January 16, 2015. Dash Removed and A Pillar Repairs. Since the dash at this point is only held on by a couple of welds, I decided to pull it out of the car. This should make it much easier to work on the necessary repairs. I proceeded to clean it up with my wire wheel and grinder. With the dash out of the car it was much easier to avoid those angry , screaming badgers ( Alex found one during his dash cleanup. My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. The little things add up. When last we left off, I had removed the dash and cowl, and was working on the a-pillar. I know it has been a while since that post, but things have been progressing. I just haven't managed to get around to writing about it. Cut the offending piece out after lining the new side piece up with the cowl and firewall. Here it is from the inside. Fitting and sizing up the new piece. Cowl r...

My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Friday, December 19, 2014. I'm Back.and Cowl Removal. I had some birthday money and I decided that I would spend it on a portable car garage and an air compressor. Happy Birthday to me! Next on the list was to get started on the cowl. With the help of my new air hammer, I drilled out the spot welds and quickly separated the whole thing from the car. The upper cowl wasn't as bad as it could be, but the lower cowl is a complete lo...I do ...

My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Sunday, June 9, 2013. Have only had time here and there to work on the car, been busy with all the things that summer seems to bring with it. Yet, I have still managed to accomplish stuff, even if it takes a while. First patch, getting ready to cut out the rotten metal. Patched clamped into place. Welded in and ground down. Second patch welded in. The next few small patches. Where they will be going. New metal ready for welding. Found m...

My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Friday, February 28, 2014. Rocker and Frame Rail, Oh My! So in this latest installment, we go through the removal of the last bit of the inner side rocker, fixing some more rust cancer and removing that poor excuse for a frame rail. How that thing ever managed to hold the car up is beyond me. Last bit of the inner side rocker removed! Uh oh, found some more cancer. Holes are now gone. Boy does that look good. Ugly rust at the back.

My 1967 mustang that resists it's restoration in every way possible. Friday, November 22, 2013. Right frame rail, digging in. I can see the rust poking out from the extension, how far does it really go? Bulging seams, I'll have to cut some metal away and find out how much is still good. The ugly, yep it goes all the way through. Doesn't seem so bad on this side, we'll have to wait and see. Extension off. That is really ugly. Yep, ugly here as well. Not as bad, but I will still replace this side as well.

Ran de les coses

Ran de les coses. Pel que entenc del meu anglès aquest Sean Larkin devia ser tot un personatge, un bon vivant. Escocès que va emigrar als Estats Units i va fer fortuna amb el vi. El seu lema: "Source good grapes, blend the best wines, and enjoy life. ". Les escasses al·lusions a l'alcohol van lligades més aviat als seus efectes desinhibidors.
