Inspired by Dr. Julie Van Rooyen's description - on the radio news magazine, The World - of the epidemic sexual violence against women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Project Resilience was formed in early 2008 by a group of friends in Los Angeles. We are motivated by a collective sense of outrage and the shared resolve to support the restoration of dignity and independence to women who have been oppressed or victimized in the Congo and beyond.
