prophet of bloom

Marmalade stains on the map. Found, stitched and dyed. Friday, 7 August 2015. Is like coming home. The class might carry the same name. But just as the meadows bloom differently each year. So the class evolves. Last year I introduced the "island book", this year I added the "river book". Two new folded no-stitch books I have been working on in recent years. The riversingers made spectacular work. No mordants. No layers of plastic. Just the honesty of paper, cloth, leaves, water. Links to this post. Some ...

Marmalade stains on the map. Tuesday, 19 May 2015. In situ : in stall. The last time i curated an exhibition was 1986. And people took me seriously. Because i had a title. And my surname changed by marriage. These days i am India Flint. Of nowhere in particular. I invited eleven people i knew to participate.

prophet of bloom: wrap up (some more) for winter

http://prophet-of-bloom.blogspot.com/2015/05/wrap-up-some-more-for-winter.html

Marmalade stains on the map. Friday, 8 May 2015. Wrap up (some more) for winter. We had a glorious day at Poet's Ode. Wrapping and dyeing beautifully soft pure wool shawls. In a cauldron heated over a lovely twig-fired heater. Made especially for me by my blacksmith son. The sky was blue, the lunch delicious. We drank tea, told stories. Played and worked in the back garden. An oasis of quiet hidden from the hubbub of Hahndorf). Laying our shawls out on the grass. And happily strewing leaves. And the twig...

Textile Art and Embroidery. High Summer on the Common. July 23, 2014. Took a walk n the Common today without my faithful friend. Since he has become epileptic I find that he needs my full attention, so I reserve my walks with him merely for observation and a little light gathering. It is a very hot sultry day and I could hear the hum of the insects. They are now all sitting in jars of water. I am going to see what happens to the water before filling them with fabric. I suspect I need more of all. This on...

Textile Art and Embroidery. Festival Of Quilts 2015. August 11, 2015. Am now home from The Festival of Quilts. Alison and I had a lovely and very fruitful time. We met loads of lovely people and had a lot of laughs. Our stand – terrible light so not good pics. We have decided we can no longer fit a quart into a pint pot so have booked a bigger stand for next year. We also had work in the Quilters in Action exhibition. As did fellow room 6ers Sue Chapman and Lynne Onions. A brief rundown of the highlights.

Textile Art and Embroidery. Normal Service has been Resumed. April 14, 2015. Common. Textile art. I have taken a bit of a break part of which has been spent in Cambodia. I thoroughly recommend it as a destination, the people are lovely and very laid back in spite of a very tragic history. Inevitably went to Angkor Wat and took some probably very cliched pics. We also went to Pnomh Penh, Kampot and an island, Koh Rong Samoleon which was relaxing and totally off grid. This is how far I have got. Textiles&#...

Friday, November 1, 2013. Hmmm, this is too easy! Soundcloud seems much easier to use (and post here) than Divshare. So here's another one, just recorded 5 minutes ago. This is the poem 'Suibhne's Lover Laments' that I posted HERE. Back in May. I always thought it should probably be a song, had a vague melody floating around in my brain tonight (when I should be in bed! Posted by A mermaid in the attic. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I must not forget how to fly. A Mermaid on Facebook. A mermaid in the attic.

Shazz Mc Textiles and Tinctures. Sunday, January 15, 2012. There are always people ready to fit us into a BOX.
