Saturday, January 10, 2009. Granola for a Good Cause. Friends of ours from Rhode Island have started this Granola Project to help refugees in the city of Providence. Typically, refugee men have greater access to education and job training in their own countries than women. Many refugee girls are not educated beyond primary school level; rather they are encouraged to contribute to their family’s household income by engaging in farming, craft-based cottage industries and commercial trading until such time as they are married.
