In the beginning . Letscotland was formed in September 2013 as the Association of Professional Letting Agents in Scotland. The organisation was formed by letting agents, for letting agents, in response to what they saw as a lack of leadership and inadequate representation of their industry in the Press and the Parliament. Letscotland is governed by a committee of letting agents, and chaired by Malcolm Warrack, the Managing Director of Cullen Property. The committee provides the strategic and policy guidance which informs the work of Letscotland and shapes the representation it provides. Our industry has experienced, in recent years, the cost of weak representation. That is why Letscotland formed. Gradually, but with great success, we are reversing the presumption against letting agents and the private rented sector as a whole, through our calm, determined and authoritative engagement at Holyrood and St Andrew’s House. We have excellent links, and have regular conversations and meetings, with Scottish Government ministers and civil servants as well as opposition party spokespeople.
