K7TXX: HT in hand - loving my Yaesu VX-6R
http://k7txx.blogspot.com/2012/07/ht-in-hand-first-impressions-of-yaseu.html
One woman's forray into the world of Amateur Radio. Thursday, July 26, 2012. HT in hand - loving my Yaesu VX-6R. My HT radio, a Yaesu VX-6R. Came today - how exciting! I took it out of the box and immediately attached the Diamond srh320a antenna. I bought to go with it. I tuned around and found a couple of hams talking about their day at work. One was a farrier the other a truck driver. The first thing I noticed was how clear and loud the audio was. The squelch also seems to do it's job well. KB7QOP - my...

Morse Code (CW) Links. Well, it is the end of an era for me as my application for a new call sign was granted today. My trusty novice call, KB7QOP, which I had held since 1992 has now been retired. The new call sign is AE7XI. (Alpha Echo Seven X-Ray India. I need to get used to saying that! With a pained look on his face. 8220;God, your call is terrible for CW! With that encouraging statement and a similar sentiment expressed by John, K7HV. A CW and QRP maestro) at one of the PSRG antenna parties, I deci...

K7TXX: Extra! Extra!
http://k7txx.blogspot.com/2012/07/extra-extra.html
One woman's forray into the world of Amateur Radio. Thursday, July 12, 2012. I'm 6% of the way through the Extra exam. The material is more difficult/esoteric and there are fewer explanations in the Ham Test Online course. I'm memorizing some answers without really understanding what they mean. Here's one from this morning:. What is the equivalent lumped-constant network for a hairpin matching system on a 3-element Yagi? I have to say it's tempting to just run out this weekend and take the technician and...

http://k7txx.blogspot.com/2012/07/radio-roadtrip.html
One woman's forray into the world of Amateur Radio. Monday, July 30, 2012. Mike, KB7QOP, and I headed to Portland on Saturday so he could make good on his promise to buy me a radio and make good he did! I am very grateful to have such a generous brother. While we were there we ran into a couple other Hams we know from our area including Jim KM7H and Daniel KL7WM. Getting out on HF will be one of my upcoming projects. July 31, 2012 at 10:21 AM. Im jealous ;). July 31, 2012 at 4:43 PM. EI8IC - maps and more.

K7TXX: The Shack
http://k7txx.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-shack.html
One woman's forray into the world of Amateur Radio. Monday, July 30, 2012. If you look carefully you can see the antenna hanging outside the sliding glass door. I got my post-card for Log Book of the World. And am downloading Ham Radio Deluxe. As I type this. Lots more to do but it's nice to be able to look out the window, write a blog, and monitor the air waves all at the same time. All in all I'm having a lot of fun with these new adventures and can't wait to start working some HF. I hope it stays that...

Morse Code (CW) Links. Morse Code on Mars. This seems like a novel use for Morse Code. RI0K – Big Diomede (Ratmanova) Island. Has been on the air this weekend with a great signal into my location in Woodinville, WA. This is a rare Islands On The Air (IOTA) station. That has been activated by the Russian Robinson Club. I recorded my 20 meter contact this morning:. KB7QOP working RI0K on 14.010 MHz. If you do not speak CW, the exchange goes like this:. RI0K] RI0K AS 061 UP. Using the RF gain control. Last ...

Morse Code (CW) Links. Monthly Archives: August 2012. After the recent purchase of my first Vibroplex. Bug, I have been a little hesitant to use it on the air. There were two primary reasons for this reluctance:. 1 My fist with a bug is irregular, at best. 2 The single weight that came with the bug did not allow me to slow things down enough to where I could send comfortably. Sliding the weight to the very end of the arm managed to slow the ‘dits’ down to about25 WPM. What a great device! The quick-adjus...

PT0S pileups are insane | Mike Treit
https://mtreit.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/pt0s-pileups-are-insane
Morse Code (CW) Links. PT0S pileups are insane. My work schedule has been busy lately and between that and trying to get various projects done around the house I haven’t been on the air an awful lot. However, I did get on and work some CW this weekend and made a few nice contacts, including a 10 meter CW contact with Argentina and a few SKCC WES. Weekend Sprintathon) contacts, which was great fun. I spent about two hours total trying to get through the pileup but it just wasn’t happening. I don...Leave a...
