Friday, 28 August 2009. The pile of bits for the waste oil conversion is growing. This little lot, plus a large quantity of fuel grade rubber pipe should form the basis of the changover and purge systems. In an ideal world, I would have had two way valves, but two single valves seems cheeper. Turning them all off would probably be a pretty good anti theft device. Thursday, 27 August 2009. Thursday, 29 April 2010. Monday, 26 April 2010. That shiney new feeling doesn't last long. Under two weeks ago, I presented my MOT man with a Landrover that worked perfectly in almost every respect. The brakes worked, the clutch worked, the headlights worked etc. Of course, fixing one thing merely provokes another, and I now have issues with a leaking clutch hydraulics. Tuesday, 3 November 2009. On Tow. latest project. I spent a few moments on Saturday sorting out my tow hitch and trailer electrics, which I've been meaning to do for ages. This is because I had a special missions on tonight, a transpenine bit of LR chassis haulage. Monday, 11 October 2010. On a go slow. Looks like I've fuel issues. It takes time to realise, but she has definitely become more sluggish, and really down on top end power, particularly cold, and on veg oil. I switched the tank from near 100% SVO to about 70% DERV, and a lot of the go came back, which makes me feel fairly sure I know the culprit. A new fuel filter will be fitted shortly. Next mission then is to get them here (both are in different bits of Cumbria), and make one good axle from two. with a 3.5 ratio. NOG - tales of six cylinders. Friday, March 27, 2009. New gearbox in, and it even works. Its been a week or so since I posted an update here. NOG continues to run about with her 'new' gearbox performing very sweetly. No grinding, no nasty whine, not even any bad vibration at high speed. Cause of death of the old box appears to be the big nut at the back of the mainshaft having not been done up properly - hence the mainshaft had been slapping backwards and forwards with nasty results everywhere.

This is because in the last 5000 miles, he has broken 2 halfshafts, and 3 diffs. Latest effort was a halfshaft, which went while moving forward in a queue in stockport, on my way to Landranger Services to buy a halfshaft, as I was on a borrowed one as it was. Now Bitsa is almost on the road, I'm starting to think about the next minor project.

I had some spare in a can (I always carry some water, it comes in handy), and so I was soon on my way again. Anyway, no question it was leaking now - it was gushing water like a geyser.
