Die Firma PTH wurde von Benedikt Kürwers im März 1998 zunächst als Einzelfirma gegründet. Im Mai 2005 erfolgte die Umfirmierung in PTH Prüftechnischer Handel GmbH. Grundschwerpunkt zu Beginn war die Fertigung und der Vertrieb von Lochfilmen , ein Spezialfilm zur Durchstrahlung von Rohreinschweißungen an Wärmetauschern.
