https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2012/09/sha-3_will_be_a.html
SHA-3 to Be Announced. NIST is about to announce. The new hash algorithm that will become SHA-3. This is the result of a six-year competition, and my own Skein. Is one of the five remaining finalists (out of an initial 64). It's probably too late for me to affect the final decision, but I am hoping for "no award.". We didn't know how long the various SHA-2. Variants would remain secure. But it's 2012, and SHA-512 is still looking good. I don't think NIST is going to announce "no award"; I think it's goin...

Volatile Social Graph, implemented | Utterances of a Zimboe
https://zimboe.wordpress.com/2008/07/09/volatile-social-graph-implemented
Utterances of a Zimboe. Volatile Social Graph, implemented. Because it will use open protocols, the goal is to let users carry their identites anywhere on the web. Updates made to those identities out on the web will make their way back to Genome instead of users having to return to Genome to edit their profiles. This means the implementation of volatile Social Graph. And this was very nice to hear as well:. Genome will provide an open instant messenger that’s integrated with your contacts. Sponsored: 64...

AMD Bulldozer CPU Architecture Overview – Elmar Klausmeier's Weblog
https://eklausmeier.wordpress.com/2013/10/06/amd-bulldozer-cpu-architecture-overview
Elmar Klausmeier's Weblog. October 6, 2013. AMD Bulldozer CPU Architecture Overview. At the chip level, 8 cores per CPU:. Unfortunately I didn’t find opcode clock cycles on AMD’s website. AMD’s website seems to be almost unmaintained, i.e., lots of dead links. Below are some clock cycles gathered through experiment by Agner Fog. I took the values measured for Bulldozer in Instruction Tables. Due to out-of-order execution. Timings may vary in actual programs. This entry was posted in CPU. Notify me of new...

Utterances of a Zimboe. Earth, wind, fire, . and . uh, what was it…. Leave a comment ». Bwah, I was really spoiled by my readings while I was traveling from Helsinki to Rovaniemi by train last night. At first I finished reading. By Paul Graham, which was simply the best non-technical book about programming I’ve ever read. (For some of the others, you can check my LibraryThing. And right after Hackers and Painters I started reading this short story collection. And why was this so spectacular? What I’...

Utterances of a Zimboe. Volatile (ie., highly dynamic) supergraphs. Update: Chris Messina had similar thoughts. Now back to my contribution. Now that everyone’s frenzying over the gruffalo. I guess it’s as good a time as any (at least) to expand my graph post. A little. The post isn’t anything notable but it gives some context, if interested. For the topic’s current initiation, see TBL on Giant Global Graph. Internet] made it simpler because of. See also a nice roundup on ZDNet, Who is afraid of the GGG?
