Suburban Wildlife Garden: Welcome to Texas
http://suburbanwildlifegarden.blogspot.com/2010/11/family-move.html
After moving from Florida to Austin in 2006 I found myself longing for the wild places I left behind. This blog documents my humble attempts at transforming a small, relatively barren suburban lot into a wildlife-friendly oasis. Thursday, November 4, 2010. After a long, six-month process, my parents and sister have moved from Missouri to a sweet neighborhood in Georgetown, Texas. Down to Earth: Fall 2011 Tour : Backyard
http://downtoearth-abbey.blogspot.com/2011/11/fall-2011-tour-backyard.html
A San Antonio garden blog. November 29, 2011. Fall 2011 Tour : Backyard. Two nights ago, San Antonio had its first freeze of the season - 31°F. All of my plants escaped unscathed, but I know it's only a matter of time before Jack Frost catches them so I wanted to take a minute to document my backyard in its fall glory. I have two water features in the backyard, and both were out of commission until about a month ago. When I told the host my dilemma and how I wanted to at least try something before I turn...

The Wonder, the Weeds and the Why in an Austin garden: Garden Growth
http://miraclesandmadnessinanaustingarden.blogspot.com/2012/10/garden-growth.html
Sunday, October 14, 2012. A brief update: despite the fact that I can't think straight most of the time, and there are definitely not enough hours in the day in which to prepare for class, and drive kids around, I have managed to extend the extremely slow growing flower bed out front as far as the corner- a minor triumph, for which my back is paying the price. Oh well. And I am very very pleased to report that the Datura that I planted out there is COVERED in buds,. Sun flowers = Cathy's happiness. Maybe...

Aquascape Your Landscape: Bridge Over Un-Troubled Waters
http://aquascapeinc.blogspot.com/2011/09/bridge-over-un-troubled-waters.html
Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Bridge Over Un-Troubled Waters. A bridge signifies a journey . over something . to another place. In the landscape, a bridge is an open invitation to come and explore. When that bridge transcends water, the explorer lingers to enjoy the view of the rippling stream, cascading waterfalls, playful fish, and all the plants that find nourishment in and around the water garden. Shimmers of golden koi catch the eye while crossing this graceful garden bridge. Linking up this week to .

http://davethegardenguy.typepad.com/davethegardenguy/2011/01/great-gobs-of-glomalin.html
Garden and Landscape Information, Links, and Ponderings; Saving the Planet by promoting good land stewardship and sustainability. Great Gobs of Glomalin! It has also been known that the soil food web is to a large part orchestrated by plants. This is done through plant root exudates. The area around the roots where all this action takes place is called the rhizosphere. Its not so surprising then, to think that the endomycorrhizae fungi might likewise also have exudates. Why is this not headline news?
