Navigating the Map ^ NICS Help

Standard map control is achieved through a variety of methods. One way is by using the standard controls on the left corner of the map region. Zoom and Pan options. Clicking on the magnifying glass icons will zoom you in and out of the center of your view. Double clicking on a location or using your scroll wheel will zoom the map in and out centered on your mouse. Alternatively, you can use the zoom box tool to zoom into a selected area. Importing and Exporting GIS Files. GIS data is used in many different applications. NICS has a function to import and export GIS data. Files can be uploaded to the NICS server from other GIS databases, but that capability is currently limited to selected administrators. However, once uploaded, these data layers can be accessed via the DATA pull down menu. Below is a sample of many of these layers. Note that some incident-specific folders have been automatically created in the Upload folder.
