Riding the Unicorn: I am the Great Horse
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/p/i-am-great-horse.html
I am the Great Horse. I am the Great Horse. This series follows the birth of my book "I am the Great Horse" from the initial idea through its writing to publication and beyond. I hope you find it interesting, whether you're writing a book yourself or just curious to know what goes on behind publishing doors. I'm still amazed that my scribbled one-line idea grew into a novel that has touched the lives of so many people from across the world. 1 Where do you get your ideas from? 2 Choosing a viewpoint.

Riding the Unicorn: Great Horse 13 - Greek translation by Anna Vasileiadi-Dardalis
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2010/10/this-week-muse-is-delighted-to.html
I am the Great Horse. Wednesday, 27 October 2010. Great Horse 13 - Greek translation by Anna Vasileiadi-Dardalis. This week the Muse is delighted to introduce Anna Vasileiadi-Dardalis, who translated "I am the Great Horse" into Greek for the fabulous Greek language edition pictured here. Anna is also an author herself, so Katherine was very excited when she agreed to an interview. This is what she has to say about the Great Horse and translating books into other languages. ANNA: It’s true that we o...

Riding the Unicorn: Long Live Libraries!
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2015/01/long-live-libraries.html
I am the Great Horse. Wednesday, 21 January 2015. No 1 title in UK libraries. It's that time of the year again, when PLR (Public Lending Right) payments are made for loans of books from UK libraries. These payments refer to loans made between June 2013 and June 2014, and the unicorn always finds it interesting to see how the loan figures compare to sales of those books over the same period. I did a blog post here. On my best-selling and top-earning (not always this same thing! Surprisingly, the Seven Fab...

Riding the Unicorn: March 2015
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
I am the Great Horse. Sunday, 8 March 2015. Three books for International Women's Day (with no shades of grey). The radio tells me this is International Women's Day so, in defiance of the current blockbuster "Fifty Shades of Grey", here are three books every woman should read before she's fifty. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper. There's nothing soft about this story. The Change by Germaine Greer. Links to this post. Labels: Fifty Shades of Grey. This ...

Riding the Unicorn: August 2014
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
I am the Great Horse. Wednesday, 6 August 2014. We're all going on a summer holiday. I'm on holiday over at the History Girls today, investigating the Historic Heart of the English Riviera. do you know its name? I'll give you a clue. It starts with P and was mentioned in the Domesday book, and the people are called "pudden eaters" because they sometimes bake an enormous pudding to celebrate special events in the town. Riding the Unicorn: September 2014
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
I am the Great Horse. Sunday, 14 September 2014. Further thoughts on blogging. Some electric cats left comments on my last post, so total annihilation of this blog has been suspended until further notice. As the unicorn has pointed out to me (with his glittery horn), many people worked hard on guest posts for his little corner of the blogosphere, so it would not be good karma to delete those. If you haven't read them all yet, see the MUSE MONDAYS. Tab at the top for a full list of links. But don't be sur...

Riding the Unicorn: Dark Horizons and the Summer Solstice
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2015/06/dark-horizons-and-summer-solstice.html
I am the Great Horse. Sunday, 21 June 2015. Dark Horizons and the Summer Solstice. Question: What do these two have in common? Answer: A flash in the pen. If you missed the sunrise at Stonehenge today, don't worry. The unicorn would like to invite you to the launch of Authors Electric's fiction anthology "A Flash in the Pen", which involves a unicorn and possibly some naked dancing around a virtual standing stone (optional). Katherine's story is called The Last Maiden. Cover illustration (c) Alan Casey.

Riding the Unicorn: Mermaid Mania!
https://reclusivemuse.blogspot.com/2015/06/mermaid-mania.html
I am the Great Horse. Saturday, 6 June 2015. The unicorn is delighted to invite you to Mermaid Mania, a feast of books about mermaids over at Serendipity Reviews. There, you'll meet a host of wonderful authors introducing their special brand of mermaids, and also find Katherine talking about the 'merlee' (that's mermaids to you) in her Echorium trilogy. I suppose she can't always be talking about unicorns, so I'll forgive her just this once. Click the link to swim on over and vote. Enjoy this gossip of m...
