Saturday, May 18, 2013. I hate sputum. It is definitely in my top 5 least favourite bodily fluids. Somehow though, patients are especially proud of their sputum. They will endeavour to produce a sample right in front of you, showing it off like a new baby. They will dig through their rubbish bag to find you a particularly interesting sample from last night. Monday, April 21, 2014. The lawns at my new place are quite expansive and seem to grow unnaturally fast. At first I bought a push mower to keep them under control, and spent 12 joyless hours one day cutting my cursed grass. Even then I didn't finish, running aground on an ancient artefact kindly left by the previous owner. I have since learned that a ride-on mower is a worthy investment. The Puddle and The Rock. A Thought Experiment About Design for AI. A perfectly circular rock is thrown in a body of water, as long as the rock makes it through the water (and not hit the bottom) it will generate perfect rings. Discrepancies in the shape of the rock will break the rings. This is how I see design for AI. The water is data (in infinite models), the rock is the logic (perfect circle, or with bumps) and the rings that create the ripple effect are the product, output and value to user.
