puddles in africa

Sunday, June 21, 2015. Journey to publication and Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. As I continue to enjoy the release of A Thirst For Home. And share the beautiful story and invaluable lessons it teaches with children around the world, I have decided to embark on another harrowing journey with hopes to publish book number two. I must tell you that having one published book doesn't mean the road for a second book is already paved. Publishing A Thirst For Home. When I think about the fact that A Thirst For Home.

puddles in africa: April 2015

http://puddlesinafrica.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Wrap up, Gimbichu April 2015. I wanted to extend a thank you to everyone who in any way helped with our 2015 project in Gimbichu. It was a huge success. I don't know how everything always seems to fall into place and become seamless, but it does. Checking into the Lemma International was the next stop on our journey. I love the tea which is very soothing. Coffee was wonderful as always (I get the macchiato which is delicious). We also saw the autoclave. Happiness. I think the h...

Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Obstetric Fistula/A Walk to Beautiful. About nine months ago I watched the documentary,. A Walk To Beautiful. It was probably one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever watched. I never realized something that is almost unheard of in this country is so rampant in countries like Ethiopia. These girls got under my skin and I think about them almost everyday. A Walk To Beautiful. You can watch the entire episode below and it might change your life. It changed mine.

puddles in africa: July 2012

http://puddlesinafrica.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Excerpt from A Thirst for Home. I couldn't care any less about diamonds or beautiful rare gemstones, or about fancy cars with all the bells and whistles one could hope for. Expensive shoes don't impress me. Money is nice, but only when you can do good things with it. That I am in complete awe of. I am a child of water. I am drawn to it. I was raised by the sea. I couldn't live anywhere else in the world but on the coast. Then to have written a children's book A Thirst For Home.

puddles in africa: September 2011

http://puddlesinafrica.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 11, 2011. In my Aunt's brief recollections and still get teary when I think about them. I often wonder if we were attacked by aliens, would we band together as one planet like the thousands of people who did that day in lower Manhattan? Would we set aside our hatred and work together united by what makes us the same and not what makes us different? Saturday, September 10, 2011. So many lives lost, and even more lives changed forever. I feel I lived through it twice, when it actually hap...
